  1. Thats not a bowl of cherries then.I`ll go for the refund and buy something else.
  2. They`ll likely give it a couple of weeks and have another go.Beef up your security a bit.
  3. Amblers. From my local farm store.Steel toes and i think a sole plate.Had them a few years now and apart from them being cheap, i cant remember how much i paid exactly. They`re not daily wear as i use various boots , but they`ve stood up to a lot of useage with no splitting, cracking, etc.I do look after my stuff though.
  4. I cant see petzl wanting to recall thousands of units.A solution to make those existing appear safe will be a compromise, and nobodies prepared to have the wool pulled over their eyes when it comes to safety. Bottom line is, those side plates look like they need a bit of over engineering at the weak point.Might only be two or three mil.A few grammes, but customers need reasurance and a bodge just wont do.If it costs in tooling up and other expenses are what it takes to salvage their reputation then so be it. If they have to recall them, they will just have to suck it up,otherwise they will struggle to sell anymore. I bought the zigzag as a treat to myself and thought it would be a lot of fun, but i`m a bit peed off at the moment.
  5. As a lifetime sufferer of hayfever, i`ve had injections, taken tablets and used nasil sprays with varying results. Sometimes it reaches a point where i am unable to work and have to get indoors for a time. An off the wall solution? Chewing the soft centres of a grass stem sorts it for a short time. Not ideal, but it works for me if i`m desperate and dont mind looking like a yokel. I was introduced to a fantastic cure a couple of years ago.Works for me, and allows me to function normally during high pollen count days.Quite cheap too, but i cant really endorse it as its a tobacco product: snuff.Transformed my summers. There it is, read into it as you will.
  6. Funnily enough, i had a letter in the post today.Bit late tbh.

    Good forum there mate.Cheers.
  8. This should have been found at the testing and development stage.Cross loading is not a freak happening, and should have been tested for.I`m quite amazed that this sort of product from top line manufacturer has been released with dangerous potential. There should have been a considerable safety margin built into its construction anyway. I think this may well kill off this inovative product as people wont have faith in it.I bought one short time ago, and havent had time to use it yet as this is a sideline.Dont know what to think about it at the moment.

I`ve got a couple of stihl billhooks, which although efficient, i`d like to pick up something more traditional and a pleasure to use.I`ll have to keep an eye out. A mate has a nice old digging bar. He`s a gamekeeper, and not good with his tools. The bar goes awol every now and again, but its very handy and a pleasure to use when we are working on his shoot.

    Old tools

I was around MIL and her blokes place and i saw a couple of old slasher blades. He said he`d found them in his extensive garden.Gave them to me. On closer examination they looked to be blacksmith made. One of them turned out to be salvagable with a bit of cleaning and a new handle it looks fantastic. The other was not so. It piqued my interest in old tools, and memories of a couple of slashers i had as a boy that we used ferreting. Now long gone or sat rusting in a barn somewhere. Compared to my modern slasher which is simply a stamped out blade wrapped around a shaft, the quality and functionality is leaps and bounds better.Cant wait to use it on a job. This led me to check out a load of old tools left by my old Gramps.Saws, hand drills, planes, and a really nice draw knife with turned wooden handles.Fantastic quality, but overlooked untill now. I`ll be looking out for more of this old stuff in future, to use as intended.Hand tools i tend to just pick up new, but i think there is a certain amount of pleasure to be had from old tools given a new lease of life. A bit of an anorak thread, but anyone else have an interest?
  14. Just recently we caught our boss asleep across some chairs at lunchtime.I pulled my trousers down and put my elbows together.Pushed down on his upturned face with my forearms. As he woke with a start i was pulling my trousers up. He spent the rest of the day asking if i really sat on his face with my bare arse.We let him in on it at the end of the day. Used a pin to slice up a mates banana through the skin. When he peeled it it fell apart. Poked a hole in the side of a mates can of coke.He could understand why he kept spilling it down himself. Glued mates flasks down with gripfill. Found a piece of foam that looked very like a broken concrete slab.Made a big play of picking it up as if it was really heavy, staggered over towards a mate and dropped it on him.
  15. Looks like a lot of rot in there. Wales oldest oak tree which has been around for 1,200 years is toppled by 60mph winds | Mail Online
  16. What i should say, is if you are not completely confident in how you`ve understood the general license and can point out your reasoning for what you are doing if challenged, then its probably best to leave it and do the work later in the year.
  17. If it complies with the terms of the license, yes.I do a lot of pest control, but its rural where i live, and i use the crop damage reason for pigeons, and danger to health/livestock for feral pigeons/colared doves around farms. You need to digest the act fully, and keep a copy of it in your wagon if challenged. Feral pigeons are quite straightforward. They are normally a considerable hazard to health when in numbers.Destroying nests, netting and shooting are regularly done to keep them under control. Doves, not so sure, depends on numbers, and if they are a pest locally and this can be shown. The fact that there is a doves nest in a tree, and the birds are causing no harm,or are not in large numbers wouldnt be good reason for destroying their nest.
  18. File guides with the chain in a vice at home or the bar in a clamp hammered into a stump when out.If its wrecked i use an electric bench grinder. With care, the grinder does sort out all the angles very nicely and gives equal cutter lengths, it is however, easy to grind off a lot of useable cutter.
  19. If the birds are in an urban area, there might be an ongoing campaign to eradicate the birds by the local council. They are an alien pest species that may well have public health or safety concerns locally. If there is,and you`ve checked with the council that it is so, then this: http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/Images/wml-gl05_tcm6-24150.pdf Might be of use.
  20. Good skills, and it obviously works.I turn up in an old discovery, wearing tattersal shirt and moleskins. In a rural area, it seems to purvey the fact that you`re in tune.
  21. The people that pay for shooting are councils and similar, but theres a lot of netting and installing spikes on ledges etc as well. Its mostly feral pigeons in town on buildings.Shooting jobs take place at night when theres nobody about. My mate recons he gets a lot of his money from moles. Good luck with it though.
  22. I`ve a mate who does pest control. The monies in moles,rats/mice,insects.Theres a shedload of people prepared to turn up for free and shoot pigeons.I do it quite happily, same with rabbits. Rats/mice are normally baited, although you can shoot a considerable amount of rats in barns if you have nv on top of a decent air rifle. In short, if you are looking at pest control, the earnings are in the mundane stuff that nobody wants to do unless they are getting paid. All the fun with guns type stuff, folk will do for free.
  23. 460.Just so versatile.I`ve got various bars for it for most eventualities.Ripper.
