  1. brilliant piece of work. really like the detailing on the legs, was it routed or sculptured.
  2. that is just so wrong !
  3. thats brilliant. although i'm a chippy by trade, i must admit i dont have half the knowledge you guys have. would love to go into milling and product making.
  4. simple and basic, nowt wrong with that, looks nice.
  5. cheers miker, i was thinking along the same lines, with the legs, stand on blocks for small stuff and concrete for taller stuff.
  6. Sorry dont understand, what is chapping ? do you mean just simply knocking the uprights into the ground.
  7. Just a quick question. When you do decking,do you either A) set your uprights in concrete B) stand your uprights on paving slabs or is there another way of doing it. This part always stresses me out as to which way is best. I have only done a few simple ones in the past, but have started to get asked more and more and instead of turning them down, i'm going to start doing them. Also do you screw the boards ( i do ) or use paslode nails for the quickest. Any other advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  8. didnt jonsie sort some female fitting gear out for someone the other week.
  9. My main job is joinery, and always will be. But as you all know when its quiet its always handy to have many extra strings to your bow. I'm experienced in hgv 2 and various flt, so i thought i might try tractors as well. Ben, i think i'm a bit too old (41) to start a completely different carreer path. Maybe i'm just better of just getting round to starting my gate making business and see how it goes. cheers.
  10. Can i just add, that i was thinking of doing it, instead of being stuck on the motorway in a hgv. Oh, and i'm 41 with experience in other plant ie telescopic flt. construction work is a rarity these days, so instead of hgv i was thinking of tractors.
  11. Just a quickie, How much could a newly qualified (nptc) tractor driver be expected to be paid in general. Thanks.
  12. that is truly a brilliant piece of work.
  13. i've often wondered that, they shut the doncaster plant down near me, it was such a same.
  14. Ty, what was it like living on a narrow boat, its something thats always interested me.
  15. with your grass seed, weed killer etc, have a shop around, some garden centres sell it loose and cheaper than b&q etc, so you can buy in bulk at half the price. as others have said, learn basic maintainance and carry spares until you can afford a spare. Save up and buy decent gear, but dont forget about insurance, pl, 3rd party etc. Also £10 ph min charge rate. You wont be able to afford anything if you charge less. never be affaid to ask questions, but please follow the instructions. we all make mistakes, (things happen) its how you deal with it that counts. think about some training. good luck.
  16. about 50 / 50 i'd say, like all, first aid and mobile at all times. But then again i prefer to work on my own, always have.
  17. i had bad treatment when i was in my teens, it resulted in me having 2 front teeth out a couple of years ago. i had a pallet made up but couldn't cope with it, Wish i could afford implants but at £1200 each, i'll do without.
  18. get some whiskey rubbed on it, pain will go away quickly, either that or you will be so drunk you wont feel it anyway.
  19. my dog is old, blind, slow and now very timid, i am sick and fed up with the amount of times i have had to pick her up to protect her from other peoples dogs, its not big and its not funny, you try having a word and all they do is laugh, and i carnt do owt as i have to look after and protect my own dog.
  20. is the sj still on the road, or is it a play thing now, always wanted one of those years ago.
  21. checking google for advice on divorce, this was the best site that came up. ( but somehow the wife is still with me !!)
