  1. delabodge, that looks a mean machine, hope you getit up and running. love the size of the vacuum pipes coming off it. I just havent the place or the work for a machine of that size. Think i will go with the metabo.
  2. I only have limited space in my garage and single phase electrics. The wadkin sounds great, have used them before, but just not got room for one. It is to get me started on my gate making business, so basically i want to start small and see what happens. It needs to be a planer / thicknesser in all fairness, otherwise i would go for the makita thicknesser, still fancy the metabo tho, unless anyone has any bad things to say about them.
  3. As the title says, i'm after a planer / thicknesser. Must be a 10 x 6 one. Any ideas on make / model / pros / cons much appreciated. At the moment i'm leaning towards a matabo one. Thanks.
  4. Bloody brilliant mate, i wish i had the chance to work with you on these type of projects, like i said before, beats site joinery hands down.
  5. Good ! glad to hear decent feed back.
  6. what type of realistic capacity am i looking at then with the 7900, sorry for all the dumb questions. Its just that i'd rather stay small until i know if i'm going to get any work with it, (if any at all). If i went bigger i'm scared the machine will just sit in the shed not earning for me.
  7. I'm still thinking about getting the makita 7901 for milling. I only want to mill up to a max of 24 inch for now, and i could use the saw for other work. Would this saw take something like a 28" bar or am i barking mad. I can only afford something in this price bracket and it must be a duel purpose saw, also i'm not keen on buying used as i'm the worst mechanic on planet. thanks.
  8. Might be of help in the future, i have just been given clearence for mod to work on their houses. Might be working up at cattrick next month doing joinery work. Need to do my cs 30/31 tho first. Keep my details and contact me in the future if you want.
  9. Nice !, might order either a 6400 or 7901 from lawsons then at a later date.
  10. Please, please keep us all posted, i believe most of us are seeing our dreams being turned into reality by you.
  11. brilliant peice of craftmanship. ( not sure about electric socket tho ), like the mixture of timber used used. What did you use to seal it all.
  12. let us know how you get on with it, which one are you getting ?
  13. yes this is a repeat, and i use a dremel.
  14. Eddie, they are well brilliant, much better than the trussed roofs i normally end up fitting. Where abouts in the country do you you work.
  15. hoping to get a tiny joinery machine shop going in my garage this year producing gates, log stores, animal housing etc, just to see where it takes me, if i can get it to full time and earn decent money, then that will do for me. Being able to work from home, and spend more time with family is time well spent me thinks.
  16. Nice, i'm still dreaming about a grey fergy or something.
  17. Rich, have you thought about something like hgv driving. Always work about. I'm a chippy myself working the sites, sick to back teeth of it but semi decent money. But when there is no work i go agency driving, saved my neck plenty of times. I will always work with timber in some capacity but its always handy to have a fall back trade. Good advice from stevie blair tho about lawn and hedge cutting to start out. I did that to get my foot in the door with nursing homes i used to manage.
  18. dont know the warrington area, but any major tool hire shop will stock them. They will be either dewalt or makita. Both perfectly good machines.
  19. those of you who run 1st fix air nailers, what psi do you run them at, i'm thinking of getting one to run alongside my paslode, but i need to get the full set up. what compressors do you recomend. Also is it posible to run a compressor from a generator. i know you can get small petrol compressors but are they any good ? thanks.
  20. I watched the first program, but not bothered since. Couldnt take to it really, may watch them doing the logging runs but thats it. Bring back IRT, thats what i say.
  21. bloody brilliant !, keep the pics coming, i'm a chippy by trade but can only dream on working on projects like that. i really do need to get into milling !!!!
  22. wahay, join the c15 club. as stated, totally bomb proof, cheap parts, ground clearance etc, i've just dinted my door on my on a tree stump that suddenly appeared, just adds to character. Get one you wont be disappointed.
  23. which grinder have you bought, i keep thinking about trying the clarke one from machine mart.
  24. police !, i have 2 young daughters 7/9, i'm dreading them getting to be teenagers, because of this type of thing. for me, booze - cigs - alcohol - computers, is a pretty bad mix, go to police, you may be saving a young girl from making a big mistake. sorry for getting too deep, but i hate this type of thing.
