  1. Sloe gin or a Baileys&Brandy over ice
  2. I'd disagree with this, to set a good impression you need good quality leaflets/flyers then take in to account fuel to get you to your drop zone and time taken when you could be earning money. Doesn't sound like eff all to me.
  3. Put a sign outside your gate saying "free clean hardcore tip" a mate of mine did it and had no more problems.
  4. Yes all adverts are begging for work, but people have a choice to buy the local newspaper, magazines and the likes, there not pushed through your letter box uninvited
  5. I was once told by an accountant that leaflet drops get between 1%-2% return, dont know if this is right or not.
  6. You could try Dave fox on here. May be to far though.
  7. I'd normally say, sell the guy what he wants, but firewood is a fickle game, if people see YOUR wet logs in his pub, they might not buy from you.
  8. Had the same thing yesterday. Bloke rings, how much are your logs ? i tell him the price, he said thanks and put the phone down. I dint even have time to tell him how big or what the load was.

  12. I'd of thought they will have to go in the boot if they come from B&Q, as most are out of town.
  13. I've got one. As said before, they are rubbish when empty, I even put michelin winter tyres on mine and it's still crap on grass, and the cab is very small, but saying that I managed to get out and deliver logs everyday last winter, although it was a bit challenging at times.
  14. Tunstall is way to far for me, but if you don't mind getting off the A12 at Colchester i will meet you there with a few nets f.o.c, consider it your arbtalk xmas prezzie.
  15. Ben, this shoot was over Saffron Waldon way. Isn't a tranny more than 1.1 of a cube ? The log sales are slow if you want the truth. How about you ?
  16. who ever purchased and built the estate many moons ago did all of the above to get into that position, the logs are just a little extra because they can These estates weren't purchased they were laid claim to by the aristocracy, but the rest of what you say is true.
  17. I've been out beating on the Audley End Estate in Essex today. I got chatting to their forester/firewood chap. I asked him what they charged for a load, he told me that their trailer held 1.9m3 of hardwood and they delivered locally for £100, sad i know, but i got my moisture meter out of the truck and the logs were between 18% and 23%.... how do we compete with that????
  18. Anything around 25% and under. Sold two loads to the local pub and watched it burn tonight, looked and felt perfect. The logs were between 20% and 25%.
