  1. Nice profile picture:001_tongue:
  2. If you don't have a spliced eye, heat up an awl or some sort of spike and burn a hole through the rope that is large enough to fit the string on the retrieval ball through.. Sorted. As for retrieval using a throwline, mine has never got tangled yet. (touch wood)

    I'm Off

Good luck mate. Was good to have a climb with you last week. Hope all goes well for you man! I wish I was that brave!
  4. Cheers chaps. Looks like it will have to go then..
  5. Could someone tell me if this is the dreaded K word I think it might be? On a nice hornbeam in the bishop of winchester's place. Something seems to be doing some damage.
  6. Found out today that I got a first class degree and the best dissertation mark in my year. Still not sure if it is worththe 20+k that it has cost me!
  7. I have heard of the possibility of getting them sent over as a commercial gift or as a gift from someone:sneaky2: Keeps some of the import costs down.
  8. Unicender. I had a go on that and the rope wrench at the show and was converted instantly! Just need to save up to buy one! Is there any talk of the rope wrench going up for sale over here too?

UHOH Hama overload. Didn't see you at the show today mate. Next time... It was a splash and dash. Are you going to Jonsies show? We should get together for a foray soooooon!
  10. Awesome as ever Gord, the view is incredible!
  11. I guess mine is a treefrog. But I have tried the roperocket too. I used a vt and hitchclimber instead of the mini traxion. Works really nice because you have your hands free to climb the rope or keep away from branches etc. I didnt fancy splicing a beeline one piece thing. Looks difficult.
  12. Check this out mate, it is even better. Gives you a good overview of some of the different climbing systems. http://vtio.org.au/Content/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Single-Rope-Technique-i.pdf
  13. I use a pantin on my right foot, then a croll with a bungee round my neck to keep it upright and then a left hand ascender with a footloop for my left foot, the hand ascender is tethered to the same carabiner as my croll. Makes a nice walker system. You could make an easy sit stand with a hand acsender w/ 2 footloops and a croll and bungee.

    TreeRise

:biggrin:That is amazing! What an awesome experience mate.
  15. I know Steve Manning. My dad is mates with him.. He is a good guy, but even he will agree using frames is cheating!! They do look incredible though, and are perfect for those sort of customers that want things instantaneously and to be perfect 24/7. Simon Rose is my dads website. He does a lot of this stuff. Website hasn't been updates for a while, but all of it is free hand with shears. Check out the Case studies: Monkey if you are interested in this sort of thing.
  16. Looks smart though! Well done mate. Im not sure I can be bothered haha
  17. A couple more randoms...
  18. Awesome pics Taupotreeman! From the beauty of yours to a few of Reading from a tall beech near the edge of town. Haha what a contrast! Well.. you did say random:sneaky2:
  19. Just to say for anyone that is thinking about this. Al is a top bloke and a good boss! You will have a good day with him. Good luck with the search Al!
  20. Happy 40th Tony:laugh1: Just kidding:001_tt2: Enjoy the woods and the coming weekend!
  21. Had a mess about using that length with 8mm beeline. Works a treat! Finger burnage as you say tho..
  22. Haha, funny you should say that Drew. I think if you hadn't mentioned it I would have tried to do it a short as possible by just using an over hand knot for holding both sides of the core in place.. Maybe an alpine butterfly would be better. Trying to be too clever doesn't suit me!
  23. He loves it! Always winding me up. Last time he was trying to get me to buy my mrs a treemotion just for rec climbing!! Shes got bored of it now, so its a good thing I didnt! What a wind up mechant! Sorry to disappoint you Drew:lol: Want to do me an example one?? haha
  24. Yea, i'm not sure if I will bother. It retrieves so well already, and it can still be taken apart.. I will see Edit: just looked at the instructions and with the length needed, I think you're right it will be too much. If I feel like splicing it eventually I'll just splice onto each side plate. Fancy having a go at that end to end splice though!
  25. At a guess I would say 10mm armour prus seeing as he is using a cinch as the lanyard adjuster.
