  1. Nice work mate that looks tidy! I find 5 hand spans is plenty of whipping twine for a zig zag wrap and frap. I lock stitch the crap out of mine! How are the double braids going now?
  2. If you have only just passed you tickets then you probably wont be doing anything big enough yet to need a 45m rope. I would personally get a 37m line with a spliced eye in a 11-12mm diameter. Buy a 45 later if you need one. I have a 15, 30 and 50. I use the 30m the most.
  3. I took off an arm this morning but have not had a chance to try it off the ground yet. On the ground 3 works well with my weight and tends slack better too. I have noticed the bulldog cleaning the fluff off my rope too. Not sure if thats good or bad.
  4. Thanks Gordon. I tried it today with 4 arms and it was ok but 3 would be better Im sure. I can just put a small loop of throwline through the holes as I only need it to tend it SRT, I wont be using it doubled rope again. I'll put it back to the way it was and give it back to Dan after Ive put it through its paces properly.
  5. Just bought one. Looking forward to trying it. Looks to do the same as a positioner and more. For less money too...
  6. Hi Gordon, I met up with Dan today to look at the OAR. I put it next to my Unicender to compare size after feeling the weight of the OAR. Dan has had a climb on it and will post his review soon. He has lent it to me to trial next as the imori rope I have looks to be a better diameter to run this one on. I use SRWP and DdRT at work so it will be interesting to try it in both configurations. Ive had a play on the ground outside and it seems like the OAR will work best with 3 arms and my body weight. To remove the top arm do I just push the clip on the side of the chain link off? I will use it as much as possible in the next week and post my review.then give it back to Dan.
  7. Fair play man, Im not exactly up to date on that sort of stuff anymore now Im actually working most of the time. Wasnt sure thats why I said with a backup. Cheers for the warning, I only have an 8 and a hitch to play with for that scenario anyway.
  8. Yeah the Kernmaster is probably a good shout. I think the marlow is LSK 10.5mm. Probably better to get something a bit thicker anyway.
  9. For a lowerable srt base anchor?! With a suitable backup:001_tongue:
  10. Cougar blue is sweet, Ive got some 10.5mm marlow that I used with the new wrench today which was sweet, Hard on the hands though. I'm looking forward to trying kernmaster with the wrench. Used it with the Uni today and it was nice.
  11. Pretty much should just bolt on straight off the bat. The ABR stiff tethers or the sterling equivalent look great, but I just spliced up my own.
  12. AP all the way
  13. I second that, Ewan showed me the saliva trick for a micro pulley I had that was covered in really nasty fig sap. Sorted it in about 2 mins
  14. Good advice above dude. If its a real serious leaner it straddle it. If the lean is less severe I have one spike low and and one high with my knee sometimes wedged inside the pole belt or wrapped around the tree with my line choked off. Its always awkward, stay away from the underside.
  15. Yes mate, thats the stuff. My tenex tec is from the states and is green though. I had to taper the end to squeeze it through, in case anyone is struggling with it.
  16. I will happily give it a test and post my opinions Gordon, I can burrow it off Dan for a couple of days. Im sure Ewan Murray would like to have a blast on one too. Good shout Dan!
  17. You can just fit the half inch tenex tec through the rig spacer but it is a squeeze. Takes the MBS of a pinto loopie setup to around 4000kg I believe. (I am a not perfect and may be wrong, god help me if I am )
  18. Bowline on a bight with a steel (preferably just in case) or ali binner including pulldown for retrieval is perfect. Use that or Drews ring anchor with circus bowline instead of an alpine butterfly if I am using a cinch tie off. Nice work Sirnick
  19. robot is better than an 8. but just buy a wrench. 8 and a vt is fine for spar descent i suppose. thats about it.
  20. Just make one with some 10mm AP cover or equivalent. Ewan made me one when he was bored in about 10 mins. Mine is buried at each end half way but you could just stitch it yourself and then tape and heat shrink it a couple of times.. Nice and stiff and light.
  21. That is very tidy tether Dak Nice work

  23. Went to snatch the head out of a small ironbark over a house (windows, air conditioning unit fence etc close by). Pissing with rain and the boys were winding me up after a very messy weekend. Put a gob in it, checked the were ready, cut it off and then realised I hadnt tied it on... Missed the roof, the butt (10 inch diameter) landed about a foot from the womans window, and rested up against the wall, just up above the air conditioning unit. Crack one piece of wood off the fence! I could not have free falled it into there if I had tried!!
