  1. Nice man. Tenex tec is so sweet to work with.
  2. Nice little loop you've made there. I have the same issue with the uni because it doesn't have a pulley either. That's why I use the bungee to hold it up returning from branch walks. Then I can grab above the uni and drop slack straight down into the top of it. Most of the time it drops straight through but if it doesn't my other hand is free to give the tail a little pull as it is not busy holding the device up. Seeing as the HH doesn't have a pulley either maybe this might help you too. The only other thing I do when branch walking when I have my entire weight on limbs is sometimes hold the device up, find my balance and pull straight down beneath. Hopefully the guys on treebuzz have some better ideas:thumbup1:
  3. Yea, I reckon I jumped the gun a bit moving from the wooden wrench to zk1 to zk2. This time I will be waiting for the refinement process to move a bit further along before I jump onto a HH. Yea Im interested in following the thread only because some of the ascent issues you were talking about seem to be applicable to the Uni and the wrench too. I think you've just got to find something simple and comfortable mate. Im trying a neck elastic at the moment. When im climbing about I tuck it in my shirt unless im coming in from branches on the uni in which case im using it.
  4. If you dont like neck elastics or chest harnesses maybe this is better?
  5. Haha I smashed myself a couple of times too but it was fun doing the exact same route but srt. Tending half the slack and having double the fun That first clip looked really smooth I thought!
  6. There is some film of Ewan on the bottom limbs but I think he wants to edit it first.
  7. Thanks for the photo by the way David. That little piece of leather is a really tidy solution! I cut a piece of a belt to give it a go with my wrench either side of the fixed cheek pulley:thumbup1: I will try it out tomorrow.
  8. Good luck with it! Im looking forward to having a go on one eventually
  9. Still think the HH is better than the RW? My advice would be try holding the device by the biner and around the rope too, getting your hand tight under the body so you hold the device in line. I dont have a HH but im just using my logic and thinking about how the device works and the problems you are having with it! Try it and let us know. How you getting on tending slack when climbing around?? Edit: or just practice with a bungy or lots. I dont find it too annoying on the wrench or uni
  10. Ewan Murray, Onelab and I hit the spiderjackery tree today with the wrench. Easier than I expected coming in from the skinny bottom limb!
  11. That looks smart Gordon. Im back at work now so I will be trying the dog out on some 13mm xtc srt next. I dont have that imori anymore. Could you pm me a price to buy it off you so i can have a think about it? Try to get you a review on xtc by weds. Works nice with 3 arms on imori
  12. Thanks for that Ben, really enjoyed watching. I love that kind of work too but its bloody dodgey sometimes!
  13. Ive not been in the Uk for a year, But some of the better climbers I know were on 130 pounds a day. But that was in central london.
  14. Spliced a ring into some 10mm OP to make a monkey tail for an srt pulldown anchor. Also doubles as a redirect for doubled rope when used with a ropeman. Sorry about the grainy picture.
  15. Fair point John. I had some used blaze that got nicked. Spliced what was the tail end and it was almost as easy as new rope.. Almost:blushing:
  16. My understanding was, with the valdotain one leg always stays on top. With the valdotain tresse the top leg on the braids alternates. So with the valdotain it can be loosened by twisting it slightly one way..
  17. Interesting stuff, Im back to work tomorrow so I will give it spin with 3 arms. Thanks Gordon.
  18. Dmc that wrench uni setup looks tidy!!
  19. Tsrugi, large teeth.
  20. Done buddy..
  21. Give it a go mate, pantin is always useful for dbrt too. The zk2 with one of the stiff tethers is an improvement on the zk1
  22. As all the others have said I use when the bar is too short but also for felling big stems. Makes them easier to pull over
  23. I didnt believe the treemotion was the be all and end all. Until I bought one. I dont even think i have it setup perfectly yet and its still the most comfortable harness ive ever used
  24. Sounds like a really good opportunity for anyone interested in doing treework in Oz. Snap it up guys, its really good to be offered sponsorship straight off the bat.
  25. I do everything with a clove hitch tied off with a half hitch. When it comes to bigger stuff I use a rolling hitch which is basically a clove hitch with an extra wrap or two at the bottom. Mainly because we don't have any steel carabiners that are not fawked. Plus unless you have a spliced rigging line which I don't you need to tie a knot to put the carabiner on anyway.
