  1. Tidy work man. They look smart. Is the whipping all the more beautiful now?
  2. Ok so I thought I would jump in on this one as I dont believe Michael is on Arbtalk and if he is he may not know this has been posted. Firstly, I have tried this system. It is very efficient and simple. It also seems like quiet a natural set of body mechanics and the muscle memory required is developed very quickly. On the other hand, I do agree with some of the comments posted already. A backup would be nice but it would obviously influence the simplicity of the system. The upper ascender is telescopic and packs away reasonably small. And remember this is only a prototype made with what Michael could easily get hold of.. If it were to go into production im sure it could be made stronger and slightly more compact. So please dont knock it before it has even come to market. I personally had my reservations about the wooden wrenches but i made one to try anyway. With regards to it being bulky and not wanting to drag it round the tree with you, the answer is simple, just dont. I usually zipline my srt gear down when im done ascending anyway. I like to keep the gear hanging off my harness to a minimum. Anyway I will try and get michael on here to chat about his ideas but if anyone is particularly interested his email is at the end of the video which i expect you watched. If anyone has any other questions drop me an email at [email protected]
  3. ...ANOTHER ropeguide Dan?
  4. Cheers for the feedback dak.. Im wondering if it wont self tend aswell as the spectra core being more flexi. Will just have to give it a go!
  5. I know some fellas in the states who climb on 9mm pmi static line.. Bit bouncy from what I can gather.. I wouldnt want to unless it was for an access line way out in the bush where you want a low weight pack to trek in as Ewan was saying.. 11mm is about as thin as im comfortable with in terms of grip and not cacking my pants.
  6. Nice idea Ficus. Could you whack another ring and a long tether above the hitch to retrieve? You in Brisbane? Got a feeling I might have spoken to you on canopy chatter?!
  7. Haha yea its not so bad being away from Kev!! Work is great down under.. There is no way I would be as good as I am now or doing stuff as big as I am if I were still in the UK. I even got to do a crane removal. Good to hear you have plenty of work. Better too much than too little! Climbed some 70m+ trees recently! Thats been fun. Take care mate. See you in the Uk when Im back for a holiday or something.

  8. Nice work, nice video! Im guessing by the .dk you are in Denmark? Is there plenty of tree work out there?
  9. Sweet video Craig!
  10. I'd be interested to hear how both types of AP compare with same length e2es used on the same rope by the same person.. I dont want to jinx it but my current AP is working like a spiderjack above about 10ft at the moment so I probably wont change for a while Self tends and locks off everytime hands free!
  11. Alright Jude. Im guessin thats you.. Hows work mate?

  12. BenR

    Its so easyy!

its nice when you dont die ay.. class 1 on beeline seems to not kill me either
  13. Looks like a smart bit of kit. I reckon I would get pissed off with coiling and clipping and feeding back out etc all the time.. Might give it a go for only 15bucks though.
  14. Looks like a smart setup Paul. Ive yet to have enough time on a wrench to give it a go.. Liking the idea of a uni in conjunction with a wrench. Thought you would be bang on that! Will be buying a wrench as soon as i have some disposable income!
  15. Smart work I need to have a go with that new AP, My current hitch cord is so glazed it practically ties a vt itself..
  16. I climb Ddrt and srt on the same static line. Its great! Makes my hitch work like a spiderjack! Had a go on the wrench again the other day and loved it. Its my next purchase! Taken a few small falls and plenty of swings with the static line and its no drama. I know its not the best idea but its the only rope I have at the moment.

    SJ problem

Ewan Murrays was slipping the other day and he is a large operator The glazed tachyon probably didnt help either.
  18. Basically Ace Arbor is a pretty good company to work for although Im getting paid more in Melbourne now! Just watch out for that plonker Steve.. or Mr Ape as he likes to call himself. Everyone else calls him SPIDERPIG!!!
  19. Glad to see one of my photos as your profile pic stevo! To anyone thinking of coming to oz to work, JUST DO IT! It was the best choice for me and I think it has improved my climbing quite a bit. Not that I was much good before!! Might get to meet you finally if you are in Sydney with Ace Arbor for a while Drew! You can bring a rope wrench for me to play with before I decide to buy one or not!! Ive only had about 10 minutes on one so far
  20. Hi guys, just got to sydney and looking for work. if anyone has any leads they would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Liking the needles idea, I have been stitching up to now.. That looks really good for a first double braid splice. I bunched up my core too much and had to milk it all back out, redo the x over and start all over again.
  22. If the knot gets in the way and you don't have a splice you could try the O rig. I think Drew posted a video of it once.
  23. That sounds awesome gibbon:thumbup1: I would love to get involved with that sort of work even as a volunteer! What is the name of the project?
  24. Tasty looking splices What is the deal with performing a class 1 double braid splice on the beeline. Seems fairly well accepted as strong enough on the AP. Has anyone done any break tests on the beeline with a class 1?
