  1. Yeh was a great job, just me and my brother camping and working up there. Crossbow is my brothers invention, nice way of getting the throwline up Trees formed the main avenue to the grand estate many years ago, got a grant to restore it. Also new fencing put in under trees, didn't want any large dead branches falling on it! Weather for the most part was ok seen as it was mid winter!
  2. Finally got around to putting these pictures up from a job earlier in the year. 85 Turkey Oaks to crown lift and deadwood. Perfect Job Here is a small selection of the pictures.
  3. this is the setup i am using too lol
  4. I have just replaced all my UJs on my 300tdi as a matter of course as giving it a complete overhaul. They should last for years really but over greasing can be very bad for them, unlike the propshaft slide joints. I would get your propshafts rebalanced as this could be causing it. Also i have a front propshaft off a TD5 on my early '94 300tdi.
  5. Cheers for the info, will they take a bit of brash with the chip too? I usually have a couple of bags of sweepings. Will defo use if ever down in the area. Where's the log guy? Good for if i have any conifer.
  6. I hate all types of advertisers with Yell being the one of the worst. Yell is very expensive for what you get. Plenty of other places that offer better value for money.
  7. we have been stacked out with work for the past 6 months, only just easing now which is good as I have a house to renovate and sell! (was going to be the winter job lol.) Not bad for first year up and running
  8. I have a 190 too and whilst good, I would probably look at something else next time. Its a great machine in everyway apart from chipping lol. Like said before, always wrestling with material in the shute and material getting stuck on the anvil inside. Bit heavy too . On the plus side its the best looking chipper out there
  9. yep not impressed with the 201t but it has got a little better with time, should have got another 200t really
  10. having the same trouble predator myself, hobby gas firms only supply the small bottles. What I'm going to do is rent one for a month and decant the gas from it into a spare bottle i picked up. then take the empty bottle back and close account.
  11. going to CA later in the year, looking forward to having a look in the national parks
  12. Just about to do my 110 Hardtop too, same experience in the back, everything falling over and a right mess. Its taking me ages to think of what to do though! Firstly i'm going to lay down some good thick carpet underlay and thin foil insulation to keep some noise down and provide a bit of comfort when sleeping in the back. Then going to board out with about 15mm ply but not sure on weather to stain or paint it Going to put some angle iron on all the edges to protect them and put in lots of lashing points (put them in where you are going to bolt the boards down, better than screwing boards to floor), Going to go with a split level system too and make it removable. Anyone any ideas on best way to access things stored underneath from inside the back cab? Was thinking about making some wooden fitted boxes but prob going to go for sturdy removable wood/plastic/metal boxes and attach them in with bungees (love them). All this typing is making me think about some cargo net or roof system now too! lol. Would love to see pics of what others have done.
  13. I don't get paid to carry my own goods in my trailer.
  14. Hire and reward means carrying other peoples goods in your vehicle/trailer. We don't do that in our line of work. Affects haulage people.
  15. see what you mean now big bolt, expensive option though?
  16. cheers for the feedback, a few options to consider now lol. Its very true that only need to pull several meters or so at a time so will stay with a short piece. Going to need to extend it though with something for pulling trees over. Got a T35 so going to be heavy cable or rope needed. Might go for a bull rope but could get a wire rope for same price. How to attach the tirfor wire rope to the other wire rope though? I mean attaching in with the latch hook half way up the other cable? Too many pros and cons!
  17. Hey all, Looking to get a new cable for my tirfor winch and was just wondering what the best length of cable to go for. I am going to get a 6 m one for stump pulling and short stuff but for trees? Was looking at 30m one but now thinking 40m as will need the length to pull the tree over without it falling on me! Never want to be caught in a situation without enough length
  18. i have just been looking too . Some of the small trucks are nice, cheap unimog like truck anyone? Now debating whether to get a 110 Land Rover or Transit 260 for pottering around in...
  19. couldn't ask for more mate, sounds perfect.
  20. nope, just that its expensive! lol
  21. just got ourselves a new 261 and not greatly impressed. Some good new features but the feel and quality is just not really there anymore... . Will be looking at Huskys in the future I think, stihl going down hill??
  22. @Littletree: F R Jones and Son have them on special at the moment. I have them in small which is 30" waist but should be able to get them in XS if need. I have the type A's and love them over my Type C Hiflex's. Great strong material and some good features. Pockets are nice but don't like pocket flaps, better with velco. Also could do with spike guards on inside leg, already got holes . Oh and reflective lettering comes off after a few weeks. Good for the money though lol
  23. i run mine on a 25", runs very nice. Anyone run theirs with 30" or higher? Need something with a bigger bar but can't afford a bigger saw yet
