  1. spot on mate. just getting a crane in for a job myself soon. Access is the problem for me on this job, big dying beech tree. Should cut the work time in half and be easier for me in the tree . Looking forward to it.
  2. cheers for the info mate, will keep it in mind if ever up that way with chip.
  3. i went for the oregon waipoura trousers (not sure on spelling) type A. Jonsie does them for £120 inc vat too . Just tried them out for the first time the other day and pretty impressed to the money. Great fit, comfy and cool. Alot better than my hiflex's. Kevla knee patches are really good too. Only thing could do with is patches on the inside leg to protect against spikes. For the same price oregon have brought out some other new type A's too which look very good too might be just what your after. not sure on name though.
  4. i was in the same boat as you, after a pair of type a's for the summer. have you had a look at the engleburt strauss trousers? might be what you want and only £120. I went for a pair of the new oregon waipoura in the end as some great features for the same price. i think zips on the bk of the leg would annoy me.
  5. Selling my MS361 on ebay at the mo. Great saw. Stihl MS361 Chainsaw 20" - Heated Handle on eBay (end time 01-Jun-11 19:42:49 BST) (using it up the beach tree in my avatar pic)

    Stihl MS461

Hey all, Just heard a rumour that the MS461 is possibly coming out this year. Anyone have any more info on this?
  11. I find plenty of people that want woodchip but they never want to pay for it lol. If you can get enough bags filled up then it is prob best to get a company in to come and take the lot away for you, get around £10 a bag i think. Better than nought. Need room to store and heavy equipment to fill the bags though. Does anyone make any good money from woodchip?
  12. lol yeh will still fill it up good and proper with chip, just want to be legit as poss.
  13. anyone have any experience on downgrading an iveco 50c to 3.5t instead of 5.5t? Looking at getting one soon but don't have my licence sorted yet so was going to run around in it for a bit at the lower rating. It weights 2.8t unladen atm so will be able to carry 'a bit' till get everything sorted lol. Anyone have any info? is it hard to do? expensive? take a long time? cheers
  14. is that a new truck too johnny or just a new back on your old one?
  15. steel sides of the pickup bed?
  16. yeh if they don't mention it does it mean you can do it?? what is the scope of work that you can do and still be covered? railway work? power station work? I find the whole insurance thing very vague...
  17. ah worse than i thought. can't wait till I'm vat registered lol
  18. @Alinicoll: I know what you mean, if they took more information from me then I could get a more accurate quote and thus know what to do to get my quote lower (more tickets, better security etc). Will give them a ring and see what they say on any restrictions or exclusions. @Adam: Yeh i bet they are legit its just will they pay out if anything goes wrong? i had a scan through their policy wording and documents and all seems good. When they sent you your documents, anything in the small print that I should look out for? cheers for the info.
  19. I think he means if he spent £100 on fuel, he would claim £20 VAT back then offset the rest, £80, as a business expenditure against the business income.
  20. Hi all, Just wondering if there is any of you guys using Insurantz.com for your business or van insurance? They seem to be quite competitive and give some good cover. The policy documents and wording seems to be a little vague but doesn't seem to come with any strings attached/exclusions. You can get a quote within 10mins too. I always wonder how they can give you quotes without giving them a great deal of information about your business. I would always wonder if they would pay out if it all hits the fan but they seem kosher.
  21. depends on your chain. On my 361 i use a Oregon SUPER 70 CHISEL 3/8 on a bar size of 1,6/.063. I use 5.5mm or 7/32 file for that. Prob the same for you too.
  22. yeh i think just changing cheap gloves for dry ones every few hours is the best option. I have even used a pair of marigolds under my cheap gloves for when i'm up the tree for a long time. been thinking about wetsuit gloves too after using them at the weekend for surfing, might try an old cheap pair for climbing in.
  23. got first call out today from the wind, might be some more tomorrow if it keeps up
  24. Even if the ash was to be pollarded back, we would have to come back and do it again in 5 years or so just like a reduction. I think your right in saying that a pollard would be better for the tree but it does come back to ascetics. The client is a housing association miles away so they are not bothered about how it will look, just that its reduced in size, deadwooded and the repeat work cost.
