  1. Not sure how to do that but you could just add your website to your listing. If you sign into Google Places you can edit you details from there and add your website.
  2. just watched it, i thought it was ok. there was no footlock demo!?! You mean they went and used spikes instead? lol. Has anyone been to TKF training place, is it any good? I have emailed them loads of times never to get a reply...
  3. any problems using motor oil/veg oil on your chains? Just thinking about temperature and viscosity. Isn't veg oil too runny? Dose it stick to the chain well? Cheap engine oil has been working for me great, prob not as good as branded proper oil, but its cheap.
  4. check this place out TKF Training / Home
  5. isn't it that our climbing helmets shouldn't be used on the ground as they dont have a peak on them? for kick back reasons? just what i heard, not sure if true...
  6. nice, a Mercedes tipper would be good to have. Any one have any experience with them, are they worth the premium?
  7. A cheapish north face jacket from a camping store will be best, they do them in red and other bright colours. Good quality and breathability but good on price too. Resolve jkt i think they are called. They sell them direct on the north face website too. Go goretex if you have more cash...
  8. Only pic i have of the place at the moment. Should be plenty of nice trees around. Small woodland is over to the left, might have some larger trees there.
  9. @penfold: i'm in leeds centre, hyde park area. @frank: i'm sure there will be a tree suitable. I have a picture of the avenue of oaks that will put on later.
  10. Spoke to the farmer today. She says its ok for the meet to be at the farm, just need to give a date. A Saturday would be best i think. There is a good avenue of oaks next to a woodland that we can get to, 4x4 prob needed though. Farm is just east of Leeds at Swillington. Hope that is pretty central for everyone. I think everyone should buy some food from the farm shop just as a thankyou for letting us use the place. They do great BBQ packs of food. They also have bags of charcoal, we just need to bring a big BBQ with us, anyone have one?? Anyone want to dump some chip off whilst they are there too that would be great lol, need lots to make new footpaths around the garden. Hows this all sound?
  11. You looking for a day time thing only or camping too? Will find out this weekend.
  12. i'm in too, add one more to the list. Might have an idea on a venue too, will speak to a farmer i have worked for next week. Farm has great parking, lots of mature trees, meat and bbq stuff for sale too. Just east of leeds off M62.
  13. sounds pretty good, might look into it
  14. i have been looking for a new wirecore flipline, where u see them for £40? All the ones i can find are really expensive, i only need the line.
  15. Hi dave, I am usually around the Grimsby and Louth area doing bits of work and if you need help on any jobs you can drop me a line. Not an overly experienced climber though, only about 6-12 months in a tree. I have most of my climbing kit just not spikes and saw. Hope I can be of some use. mike
  16. Hi all, I have just become available to work part-time in the Leeds area and just thought I would post on the forums to see if anyone is looking for a groundie or climber. I work self-employed as forestry worker and groundie/climber in Grimsby and York area too but I am based in Leeds. I am very flexible on when to work and even the odd 1 day job every now and then is fine. I'm 24 years old and have over 3 years experience working in the UK and I worked full time as a groundie/climber in France. I have my cs 30/31 and all my ppe plus some climbing kit. Will be looking at doing my climbing tickets this year too hopefully if i start doing more climbing. If anyone is interested give us a shout here or by PM for more info.
  17. i use a petzl micrograb on 13mm core, works well and can be used one handed. very sensitive though.
  18. very funny lol , will be stealing that one
  19. This isn't true as the the needle separates the fibres as it passes through the rope during sewing. Sewn terminations are stronger than a knot and i like the idea of less bulk and no chance of it coming undone (i hope). I have always used a bowline to tie into and it has been fine but as i'm getting a new rope and they can put the sewn eyes on for free, then might as well go for it. Might try spliced eyes at some point in the future too. As the sewed section of the terminations are covered in a plastic sheath, was just wondering if it is able to pass through the small hole on a standard cambium saver with a little push; say when you are setting up your anchor from on the ground. i have heard i might need a cambium saver like this one from petzl, but with a small screw gate instead of the small ring. Anyone used sewn terminations with a standard cambian saver?
  20. Hi all, Just wondering what your guys opinions are on having sewn (or spliced) rope terminations (ends) on your climbing ropes. I have rarely used a rope with them and just used a bowline, but sewn terminations look neater, safer and stronger. I going to be getting a new 35m rope soon and it can come with 1 or 2 eyes sewn on. Which one should i get? I like alternating between ends of the rope now and then, as is good practice, so might go for 2 (can always be cut off if need too). Only problems i can think of is getting the eyes through a standard cambium saver (might need one with gates on it) and getting the rope stuck when pulling it through a fork.
  21. i learnt to climb on my bosses weaver harness and it was horrible; heavy and rigid. Just got a petzl Sequoia and its really nice, used to fabric climbing harness anyway. The Sequoia has good back support too.
  22. i use a fig8 when doing long descends out of a tree, you dont really need to backup as on 13mm ropes it drags quite well through the device. When on srt i should backup but just don't let go instead lol When rock climbing i nearly always backup as on 9.7mm line it goes through quite fast. On small lines like this you can use the small eye of the fig 8 instead for increased friction.
  23. I use 8mm beal cord sometimes on my 13mm as a foot loop and it has mbs of 15kn, lowest you can use i think. Use 10mm on my main prussik and works well.
