  1. Right update: Got the big job, a guy with a woodmiser wanted £400 a day to mill on site and it had to be on hard standing because hes only got a 2wd hilux!!!!! so....i said no thanks. Rob in a couple of weeks i'll send you an e-mail to get a 48" mill and a couple of ripping chains. Think my wrists are going to ache after this job then.
  2. Nice, good to see the milling taking on the other main topics.
  3. Arrived today:thumbup1: Does the camp site expect us or do we still need to contact them to book a pitch?
  4. Christ! You must of put some massive wedge on that willow removal then rob:001_tt2:, Very nice and shiny. Guess your weekends will be cleaning it.
  5. Looks like a nice bit of kit to have just in case.
  6. Well we all know hse doesn't exist in france....have you seen them building a house out there, shocking!! I liked it and yeah they could of used the skidder but maybe they forgot a pull line:lol: But it all went well no one died or nothing damaged.
  7. Yeah seen that before, god that army lass annoyed me! she treated it like a bit of fun, ppffftt!

  11. I hope everything goes well and you make a quick recovery.
  12. I will now be attending on sunday instead, Fiona have you bothered contacting andrew mills or are you just turning up? im doing the latter.
  13. COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Video clip:thumbup:
  14. A bit of both really, I seem to get jobs just because i have a mill and people want the planks to use. The hardest thing is storage they take up a lot of room at my yard. But for example you get paid to fell a oak all debris to come off site you could a) turn it all into fire wood b) turn some of it into firewood and plank the rest. B every time for me:thumbup1: 1-2" boards are the easiest to sell too but i'd also buy a mini mill too.
  15. Are you going to mill it? If so then that should make it cheaper, how are you going to extract it? What was the wood going to be used for originally? Can it be milled without clear-up on site? All things that need adressing 1st. Try your luck by offering them a bit of cash (lowish of course). I got a section of Oak (32" boards from it, 8ft length) for £20 recently just gave them a drink out of it, they were happy as they didn't have to clear it away.
  16. Thuja planks off a recent clearance job
  17. Originally i would cram as much work into a day as possible, but quickly realised that i was going at a relentless pace and duely fell run down. Now i work most my jobs with frelancers as a job and knock. If i've made enough money to get by then im happy. IMO yeah i could have more money but i think my quality of life would drop, too much work not enough time to enjoy the little things, walks, meals out with the wife, etc. Fair play to all those working 8hrs and up too.
  18. Rob, good on you for getting it done safely. Yeah when we all start out we 1) might not have all the kit. 2) not as much experience as the older guys 3) be as fast as the twig. But as you get more experience you will 1) get more money 2) buy more kit 3) wonder why did i use to do things that way 4) become quicker and more proficient 5) Red trousers what was i thinking!!!
  19. Well his water was off so he turned the tap on, went out and came back to water flowing out of the front door. Nearly wreaked the place.

  20. Forestor is a better option, you wouldn't believe how much soft wood you gain over a year as a tree surgeon.
  21. WOW im always impressed with your carving! So beautiful.
  22. He lives just down the road from me in norwich, ask him about why you shouldn't leave your taps on next time you see him.

  23. Cheers Tommer i will find him at the APF as im pole climbing there. Getting more and more treework because i have an alaskan mill as im 1 of 3 companies in my area that have the ability to mill so thinking of investing in something that give a better cut and saves my saw wear and tear.

  24. Yeah Ben, we worked together at citycare for a while, how do you know ben?
