they have a sayin up this end of the country (shy bairns get no sweets) basicly if ya dont ask ya dont get i phoned hundred of tree surgeons before i found 1 willing to sell for a small fee to cover the lads christmas party others told me they would rather watch it rot than help me out give it a go the worst that can happen is ya have to take the rubbish wood aswell

ibc container or the cage it sits in is a good idea as the bags do stretch after repeated use to the point i have to squash them onto my trailer now where as they used to fit just right

the cheapest price is not always the best ive had a lot of cowboys setting up near to me and lost some customers for a short time however the majority have returned this year and one of my customers showed me the wood he was getting it was that poor quality he wouldnt take it in the house it was covered in mud you could push your finger through it and probably wring it out like a sponge i was concerned for a while that i might have to drop my prices or stop completely however as it cost this customer 5 quid of diesel to burn it in his fire pit im reasured that im doing the right thing

im a self employed hgv driver and have had many discussions with the agency owner and for a small fee he is capable of being an opperator of any hgv so instead of sitting a course aproach people like this as theyre the ones get the sh1t if you go over your hours the agency i use is driver hire and they are nation wide

i would also be interested in any logs ringed between 10 and 18 inch anywhere in the north east even if i had to transport them to a waiting hgv a few miles away. Ive only ever had 1 stroppy customer who threatened me with everything from physical violence to phoning the police because he couldnt get his logs to burn. I invited him to bring some of his logs to my yard where i would have my unlit stove ready to prove they will not only light but burn well needless to say i had them roaring in no time at all he couldnt understand i asked if he had double glazing he said yeah the whole house is so well insulated we barely use anything. I said go home do what i did but open your window while you light it he phoned me later to appologise.

we have a massive wood powered power station nearby and another even bigger 1 in the planning stages so free wood will always be a problem round here and as us northerners dont like paying a lot for things a price rise is out of the question because the Cararavan Utilising Nomadic Travelers will just under cut me and probably have stolen the wood in the first place

have contacted all the tree surgeons i can find in yellow pages and on the net most said they dont have any spare some said yeah but will cost x amount which is more than i currently pay and 1 or 2 charming individuals said they would rather let it rot so unless there are some decent people on here within reasonable distance im a bit stuck

i currently buy my timber from a tree surgeon the softwood doesnt bother me as i have a few good customers who will burn anything including paying me for pallet blocks that are left over from my kindling i forgot to mention that i already get offered work but with no ticket anythink larger than a bonsai i pass on to my wood supplier im not intending tree surgery to be a main occupation as im also a wagon driver and a doorman i would just pic and choose the jobs depending on how much i wanted the wood, As for buying standing timber you still have to pay for this and althou its better quality than tree surgery waste im trying to avoid paying for the wood as much as humanly possible

ive been a woodfuel supplier for just over 2 years and im interested in becoming a tree surgeon so i can get payed for taking the wood away aswell as selling it as woodfuel (greedy) where do i start all comments welcome even the bad ones (ill get you lot later) i live in the hartlepool area so if anyone can recomend a training provider in this area many thanks in advance
