  1. Just done most the video will add another one with the milling and a few bits next week. But heres my head cam one [ame] [/ame] Note the branch thrown back towards us at 8 seconds:thumbdown:
  2. yes and no, you could tuck a sheet under the side you are cutting from but if your using the mini mill you've got no hope it goes everywhere including covering yourself from head to toe.
  3. Per section their was 5 wheel barrow loads. Worse is once its been down a few days it goes quite solid.
  4. Saw this on tv, im sure it was in a james bond film. Un hlicoptre pour la protection des lignes lectriques - Les journaux du Week-end - Vidos
  5. The pics of the job, just thought instead of making a new thread id wack them on here. Video will be added when i get 5 mins. Target Trees's Photos - Mature tree felling & Milling | Facebook
  6. Cheers cutter1, try to keep as many photo job logs as i can. So the site is pretty much finished just logs to move, 3hrs milling left at a guess a lot of sawdust and clearing up. Hope to be finished by tomorrow?? or Monday...
  7. The reason was because the client didn't get light in their conservatory between 12:30 and 1:00. The site was quite overcrowded by these oaks plus they are adding a balcony to the house. The timber is being planked and sold by the client, the posts are to be used in the balcony as its free timber and chainsaw milling gives a very 'rustic' effect:confused1:
  8. Slander is probably a hard word to use but form the off you've been very negitive about this thread? You've got to give the guy credit for doing that, that fast.
  9. Page 1 post 5 onwards. I think post 6 pointed out it was a sport?
  10. Yes and i don't think the videos tried to make it anything else. Did it?? Im sure i didn't see him ruck up to work, blunt the saw then get a new chain and BAM back in work. I don't see why you were slandering it so hard to be honest:confused1:
  11. And who says they dont want to compete? I really think you should take it as a sport. You seem to have something against it? Did you lose to this guy?
  12. OK, Sites been felled and we started milling. Part of the new mill broke i assume from vibration? But were nw milling more posts for the house extension/ easier to sell on. Still doing some as planks but milling posts of 6X6 should half the milling time. There are so many photos of the job heres a link Target Trees's Photos - Mature tree felling & Milling | Facebook
  13. Done with german efficiency:001_rolleyes:. Just a note to every saying in the real world, as part of the loggers they have to change the chain, turn the bar as the 1st discipline, then fell a tree with precision, sned a limb dolly for maximum timber value and cut throgh a partially burried log without hitting the ground. Well they are better than me as i could do these but not as fast. This is like the F1 of loggers and does attract the best logger in the world.
  14. Tony i see how you get coal out but how do you refill it?
  15. The trick is find a windless out of the way spot light up add oil. Go throw some more bits on the fire. Come back oil now hot and add bacon, do a bit more work, turn bacon, butter rolls. Bit more work then serve, eat, sip of drink the back to work. So all in all probably less than a normal firm as we eat as we go. I might do a channel 4 program. 5 minute fry up?
  16. Nice pics, thanks for sharing.
  17. Sketchup is very basic you have to add all the data yourself. Shade areas i have never added them to my plans just put a cavet in that i have not plotted them. Rpa's are easy to plot. its either a square or circle. Square are better as the contractor can price the fencing easier.
  18. Some loggers thing, stops the risk of wreaking the valuable timber. I don't do it becasue i don't know how + im lazy. Hence how i split a smaller stem the lowest 2ft is now firewood value.
  19. ha ha, got the bacon and sauces for tomorrow. Mark, yeah the spec is to mill the timber to 2" and 1" boards prior to sale. Rob, Just because you can.... oh that and the client asked me very nicely too. James is that my fell the 1st one?
  20. If they have employee insurance then yes, as you even tho you are self employed, you are being employed by whoever to carry out their work. Private jobs By law well, NO. There is no legal requirement for you to have public liability insurance. although if you do something wrong.....
  21. Looks likesome russian vine in there too. Don't envy you one bit on that one. Good to see you got stuck into it tho.
  22. I use sketchup8 free from google. Once you've spent a few hours learning how to do the quick lines and shapes its very fast especially if you've done the site measuring up. The only problem is that it doesn't give you a scale as you go so can require printing, measuring and zooming to work out the scale. It also can look alright, imo better than a hand drawn map. 23. optional extra you can take out:thumbup:
