  1. Just have a go, all you need is your spikes, hat, gloves, harness. People will lend you a racing strop. The guy you need to speak to for info is terry bennett, check some of the pole climbing posts and he will be on there.
  2. Hi Robert, There is tree surgeon/novice category which is side spikes (gecko's, bashlins) Expert (toe spikes, sliders) Veterans 40+ Womens (due to lower numbers normally run in expert or novice cats) like john said old tippo does it 9 times over the few days raising money for cancer charity.

  10. Didn't get much time between climbs, didn't even get a real chance to get to the arbtalk stand. So all i got was some new ear defenders and a heap of free t-shirts.

  13. Here's the picture of the two poplars that we felled. I expected to see some decay but not as much as this.

  15. Ok, as an arb type i feel that although i've done the tech cert i still lack a good understanding of forestry. So i think i might do a long distance forestry course to give me better knowledge and understanding of it.

  18. What were the final numbers terry?
  19. I've just looked a 2 poplar trees which are in decline and the stump/buttress area is covered with it. Anyone came across this before? 1st time for me, i know its associated with decaying stumps/ rotting wood. Never seen it on anything live so i am wondering if this is a indicator of mass stem decay? I will post some pics once the trees are down as i forgot to at the time.
  20. I found using those cotton buds on a stick really good for clearing out the fine layer of dust.
  21. Yep that job, holding a large saw for a long period of time will make arms sore/ wrists.
  22. Platform? How much are you paying as there is a guy who costs £280 per day who drives to site and operates it (lorry based one 70ft). Txt me if you want his number or i'll give you his card anyway on saturday when i see you.

  24. James, ill look at the monkey puzzle stem tomorrow and if its good and you decide to fell it i'll make you an offer and come mill and extract it on thursday (thats when your at the site?)
