  1. im not in the 'industry', im in dairy farming, got into tree climbing as recreation between myself and a arborist friend who was very willing and supportive in passing on the knowlege and training i needed to climb for fun ! if you can call it fun!, ive always wanted to try pole climbing but not having experince working on spikes etc and turning up to an event with pros who are running up poles like squirrels and ' having a go ' is daunting to say the least !!!!!! plus i would imagine that even if you are in the industry its the feeling of wonder as to how you will be recieved by the regulars...... hope my ten pennth worth is of use !!
  2. not so much deep, but everywhere.... i remember turning into the farm drive and being met with a white river.... not good . The companies were very good but with milk being so hazardous in the natural world it cant really be any other way.
  3. no milk made it to fresh water, the tanker company and the environment agency guys were very quick and very good to be fair, the driver was sacked and the company had to stand all costs but it was a hell of a mess.
  4. we once had a milk tanker collecting milk from the farm and the driver put the tanker to blow by mistake, 13,500ltrs later he had finished reading the paper in the cab and his wagon was empty and the road and ditch was full of creamy goodness.... that was entertaining..... until the weather turned warm!!
  5. chuffin heck!!! didnt notice that.......
  6. I know that pain my friend,, lost my dog of 17 years recently....i was a wreck.... hope you feel ok soon fella. ed.

    newbie !!

Hiya guys , im fairly new to climbing and only do it for sport as im in dairy farming by trade.. Ive been on spikes and im realising its addictive.. how difficult is it for a TOTAL novice to get into pole climbing as sport? i read a lot of threads saying just come along and try it but is it really just that simple ? Thanks in advance for your time. Ed
  12. Hi cookie, im a newbie too, and oddly i work in agriculture too but have friends who are arborists so we climb purely for fun in our spare time.
