That would certainly save me some time on some jobs. I'll be much more excited about a large conifer hedge removal now! I take them down and leave the boys to tidy up. ;-)

Sorry to hear this. Sometimes they park up near to their sites (Arborfield / Camberley) and wait to see if it has a tracker on it. Arborfield has a big scrap site nearby. The police are useless sadly, so I don't expect you'll see it again.

Cabstars are great, but there isn't much room. They fit in all the narrow driveways round here. Don't expect to get anywhere in a hurry; esp if your towing a chipper with a load! I bought a Isuzu NPR 77 and it was stolen within 24 hours! I can't really comment on the Isuzu as I never even had a chance to put it to work!

The calorific values of almost all woods match each other when oven dried (all the moisture has been driven off). In other words if you take heart or sap wood from oven dried oak, beech, poplar, or even balsa wood the calorific values are very similar on a weight for weight basis. Obviously its not like this when you chuck a log with 20% moisture on the fire, but it helps to explain to customers who say I only want beech or ash or strangely even some think soft wood is the best. We have to sell it on a cubic metre basis, not on weight, so the heavier the cube is the better when it is actually seasoned properly!

Riko all the way! I bought A11 without the additional trailer and then found out its a bit heavy to move any distance by hand. I use a Penny Hydraulics crane to lift it into the truck. The A11 with the additional trailer or the A12 would be perfect. Well made by the Italians.

I think its a bit much to take it to a dealer of your choice for them to carry out the work without consulting him. He probably thought you were going to do it yourself and he'd have to pay for some bearings and a battery. I think he will argue that he never agreed to that and its a misunderstanding. I doubt its clear exactly what he would pay for in your letter. As others have said, you now have a working machine that you thought was okay for the money, so spend your time working it. It will pay for itself in no time and you'll be a happy bunny! Keep the blades sharp! -

Cameras and trackers are expensive, but can be worth their weight in gold, if they help you get your kit back. Hampshire County Council put some of those wildlife cameras up high in the surrounding trees to monitor a layby for fly tippers and they were all nicked the first night! -

The climber needed more people pulling a pre-tensioned line set higher up in the tree to increase the leverage on a weighty chuck like that. They should have been pulling more in the direction of the hinge as they might have actually helped the top fall the way that it did, by adding additional weight to that side of the small hinge. I agree that he should have been higher up the tree...cut it higher...and reduced the risk of this happening dramatically. ...and he shouldn't slur his words like that. It will make us think he has been drinking!
