  1. brilliant job today john, thanks a bunch,,got me a great load of cedar, will post some pics soon, very happy,,,,,,great service.
  2. \iM TAKING BIG DEODAR DOWN TOMORROW,,,GOT JOHN COMING IN WITH LUCAS TO MILL IT,,,,got job over everyone else who quoted because am going to make em loads out of tree,,,,,,couple of chainsaw carved monster mushrooms,,,,chopping boards,,bird boxes etc,,,,and there paying xtra for it,,,,,,by sat the tree will be milled,,,by next friday they`ll have loads of commissioned goods,,,,,, use your trees wisely,,,,
  3. fell em in as long as lengths as you can,,especially if its deodar,,,,great for chainsaw carving,,,,,you`d make more ,,,,,
  4. hi john,,Lt40 1989,,model,,with spanking new 27hp kolher engine,,,,,,runs a treat,,,,got lovely yew butt to mill thursday,,,,,,
  5. hi I generate a fair bit of Arb waste,,,,and now own a woodmizer,,had great day milling today,,load of rails for fencing ,,,have fair stock of good oak,,but when i run out ,,any suggestions on who`s selling? whats going rate for butts etc???

  7. hi dave would be intrested in routing through and picking any with old holes in,,I make bird boxes from them,especiall old apple trees,,,,let me know if this is the sort of thing you`ve got,,,cheers

Ive been making furniture for parks for over 15yrs,,,,and have a good idea whats needed,,,,like rob says,,2-3 inch timbers are great,,,I basically make sure the bark is off nowadays if Im going to use the timber myself,,whilst it looks great it encourages beetle and worm,,unless its cedar,,, I have loads of mates who are builders,and word travells fast, I square lots of oak up into large beams and then recut if needed,,using the waste for smaller planks,,,,, Ive had a habiat of treating some of them with five star,,obviously only if its to be used indoors for beams etc,,,,, Just made a Oak timber framed building for a school,,,,and used all my own timber,,,,its very rewarding,,,,,
  10. hi its a good topic,,,,one I took hours dwelling over,,to buy saw or not? I eventually bought a woodmizer as had big load of oak coming in off job,,,,,so made sense,,got saw and have started getting money, back,,,,then comes along a job to take down huge cedar,,,,when I way up the cost of a crane,and a mate with tractor and low loader,,it wasnt worth it,,even after my time and lads wages,,,so used arb talk and am bringing in a fellow member with a lucas,,,,,,now i`d love one of them too,,,but,,,,,I`d be looking at divorce papers,,,,so contacts and resources like this site are great,,,,, dont regret getting it yet. P.s do need a better tractor for loading etc,,,,lol

  16. hi mate what kubota engine do you have on yours?? mine apparently is f,,ked,,,lad ran it with no oil,,so,,,overheated ,,etc,,,,couldnt have happened at worse time,,,

  20. hi kev hows things,,havnt been on here much,,,,,lately,,,,been busy with shows,,bit of tree work,,,,,am after some larch,cedar western hemlock,,,,etc,,for chainsawing mushrooms, etc,,do you have a contact for me to get some delivered to berkshire,,,so need supplier and haulage?? am i asking for inpssible,,,

    log splitter is working fine but trouble with four way splitter,,,

  22. hi after some 8ft lengths of timber for chainsaw carving, larch, western red, or at a push spruce,,,,cedar would be great,,,about 12-16" diameter, 10 ton, or less,,,,,reading ,berkshire area,,,, big ask but worth ago,,,,
  23. I bought the riko AV11 this yr with its own engine,,,good strong,,machine,,bloody heavy to pull up and down my yard,,,so towable one would be good,,but extra £500 odd ,,,,so more spinach,needed,,,,, havnt managed to get anything stuck on it at mo,,,,bit juicy,,,,but worth the money,,,,
