  1. thanks guys,,I have the feather edge attachment, need to make shingles,for top of my log stores,,,,look forward to hearing from you stu,,thanks chris.
  2. hi got a woodmizer and can mill standard stuff no probs, but wondered if any one down south would show me how to mill shingles so i can put some of my cedar I get into use. when I google it,,just get fancy canadian machines built for em.? any advice welcome,
  3. my friends wife borrows my ranger every other sunday to pull her horse box and she says it does it easy,,,,ive a whopping big gravely chipper and it has no probs?
  4. Most of em are probably on benefits because the price of fuel has made em redundant,,!!!! at £1.30+ per ltre they wont be the last.....mock not!

  15. his name is alan walters,,hes from the wessex coppice group,very knowledgable bloke, sells quite a few of em,25 in a bundle, for £25,,,,used to be very popular for starting bakers ovens,he now sells em to hotels mainly.

I use the jappa one,,,,works a treat,and saves your back from ringing with the chainsaw, we work it in twos as well, same as john says,,did twenty ton of alder a while back and still going strong, although the bar under the screww splitter isnt up to much when to beat it to get a stuck log off,,,,£1500 from fuelwood, and the saw has safe guard on it ,where as some leave the operators fingers in danger.
  17. Ive got into the habiat of getting as much bark off as possible,then jet washing the log,to remove small stones,grit etc, milling some yew yesterday,(and today,)and have come across some small nails, and these where woodland trees?
  18. To be fair Chestnut or oak,for outside stuff,ash wont last very long,,,and teak oil is far cheaper than danish,,,,,nice gate though mate,,,

  21. Oak,for lathes,swill baskets, Ash for yurts,morris minor frames Hazel,binders ,chairs,twig pens,pencils sequia,chainsaw carving,,, rowan,jam chestnut ,,flooring,trugs,cleft gates.. the list is endless
