  1. just my last few days work, quater sawn oak,,,,,(not sure pics are attached?)
  2. This is definetly the case, took mine back to ford ,they replaced the plastic caps and twelve months later,,same,,,,so dont worry,,,horrendous cranking noise, specially when bouncing off a kerb,or on full lock,,,design fault,,,
  3. I think you`ll find ben law probably didnt! his "(paying for the experience)volunteers did", you have a large area to cover, and cleft shingles look lovely and rustic, but sawn are far faster process, and i`d love to see someone cleft leylandi,,lol,,,good luck ,,,
  4. RIP mate, phew this knocked the wind out of my sales this morning, best wishes to the tree team and his family.
  5. The hydraulics came with my woodmizer and were`nt an afordable extra, they make life a hell of a lot easier, especially if you dont have a tractor with a loader, telehandler etc, I rely on farmer mates to help me out, so when they drop of my arb trees, they line em up and I need no extra help, plus the turner is brilliant, and stops you damaging the machine with dropping big logs onto it, I`ve had no problems with warped logs at all, and am sawing to the max daily. for the money, £6500 with trailer second hand,,cant beat it!!!!
  6. I got in touchwith them, there about £20k shipped from USA,,,,work off bobcats,,,,
  7. I second the above,,,,the hydraulic lift is so handy, along with hydraulic loader,,get a mate to drop off ten logs and you can roll them and load them yourself,,the woodmizer is hard to beat, and theres some good second hand ones around,,,
  8. your right, put it in sticks, and let it air dry, under cover but with good air flow, the wind will dry it out, if your lucky enough to have a kiln, then bingo,,but not many of us do,,,,I leave my oak out side,,then move it into cold room at back of workshop to further the slow drying out process, all depends what the final useage is, being a table it needs to be dry.
  9. what are they to be used for ? seating? display? there big logs to man-handle ito reception!!!even after three shredded wheat!!
  10. £70 per cube here in reading/berkshire,,,,but maybe more next winter if fuel prices keep rocketing.....
  11. remind me not to upset you!!lol:001_huh:
  12. hey mate try riko,,theres a link on the side here,,I bought the AR11ton machine,,and whilst the ram isnt the fastest,,splits almost anything Ive thrown at it,,,and should set you back £1500 ish,,,,all ours is arb waste...
  13. hope you find em mate where abouts are you? had same happen to me with a one yr truck,,no funny..will keep my eyes peeled.
  14. cheers tommy missed that one,,must have been watching the darts,,lol
  15. ok just curious,,in daily mail today theres a pic of log pile with snow on it! who the woodsman? just curious to see if anyone knows him?
  16. hi andy, we have same problem, I currently use pto jappa sawbench behind tractor for anything smaller than 12", then goes on riko 11ton splitter, as you say this is slow, but effortless, and you soon get through it with the odd couple of hours at end of arb work, realistically ,,an out feed on the sawbench would speed things up, and a cracker for splitting the larger diameter stuff would be handy,,,but where do you stop? we cord most stuff we can lift on arb jobs and stack in one pile ,and bigger rings in another, makes things quicker, than sorting through monster stack of mixed.
  17. mate the cabin pics are brilliant,,saved yourself a small fortune, take it you got planning permission to live in the woods,,,wicked,,, Where did you get the shingle attachment? and is that a forrestor mill?
  18. sweet looks nice,,what did that baby set you back? and is the ram speed any good? ?
  19. try using your axe and save un-nessecary fuel,,,send the shiney splitter back and donate the money to the poor petrol station owner? NOT I THINKS!!!
  20. hi mate thats still £50 a ton, before transport! not much in it after labour and delivery,,,,good luck to him,,,,
  21. I know dave well, he fitted my new engine, in the past Ive seen blocks sat on woodmizers before but never paid much attention,,,now wish I had,,always the way,,, chestnut, thanks for the offer but I can cleft shakes myself,,just wanted a faster more economical way of doing it.appreciate the offer though.
  22. and worth every penny mate,,well made and look lovely.
