  5. hi just wondering what saw most of you carve with? I use normal saw(stihl 341-441 etc) for roughing out.then ms200 with cannon carving bar, it works ,but is it right? what do you use?

  7. my woodmizer lt40 works just fine,,,no probs with bed, maybe Im just lucky,,,am about to build a new cover for it,,just for the head,,leaving the body to the elements,got a truckers tarp for that,, yes set works would be nice,,but have to draw the line somewhere,,,agree with tommer,not the most accurate,,but got big 20" bench planer/thicknesser to sort out true sizes,,,,should I need...

  11. sorry half post disapeared,,,when stacking your firewood, put two hefty pieces the other way first,this keeps the pile off the floor,and rots less,,,
  12. just a tip jammydodger, when stacking your firewood in coppice areas, , a old friend of mine from the lakes bill holgarth, had hundreds of uses for coppiced wood,,,from walking sticks to ,spars to hurdles to,,,whistles,,,,I make all sorts and the after 20 odd yrs am still making new stuff,,,will post some pics when I can
  13. a picture gallery for specific topics,,ie, leaves,carvings,milling,,,,as searching in the search engine can some times be long winded reading everything and scrolling, but on the whole a brilliant addictive site,that I find interesting and imformative.well done
  14. up in swaldale ,,its blowing a hooly,,,,,,
  15. fiddles do a good quality exterior oil,,,takes four coats, but comes up nice, uv protected and waterproof, i use a clear barritine wood preserver to lift the grain and protect as a base layer, cutting back with a 240 grit after first coat, then a 400 after 2nd,,,finally your left with a very good hardwearing finnish, wood finnishes direct sell it,,,,google them,,
