  1. yes the winch really helps, being a bad back sufferer, I used to dread it, but now its a breeze....
  2. I`d agree with all the above ,but get yourself an alaskan,also,,breaks down bigger logs,but also planks,...best of both worlds,,p.s make sure its got a winch(the alaskan)
  3. gray git, lovely work, and at lot of tired hands sanding those mushrooms, I think your prices where very reasonable, I`d have charged about 20% more, this is your job, now if the head mistress was getting paid less than she is,,she`d go on strike! the kids will love it!

  9. this was some stuff I put aside to turn ,about four yrs old, and the bark just fell off, having been out to colorado earlier this yr, it inspired me to have a go,,pleased with the results,need to make a bar stool next,,,
  10. they are solid ,,,no movement what so ever,,,,yew is a very hard and dense wood,,,
  11. all depends on where your planting them mate, growth rate,etc, being an x countryside ranger, we used to allow planting of oaks, but as they where in a public area,there was a very big chance of them being damaged,and the customer(family usually) could be prone to being very upset at a later date, something they should be made aware of, saying that 85% of them are doing nicely, if its in a private dwelling then the choice is endless, I`d like a cedar for myself one day,,lol

  14. I use the triton, mark 3 superjaws, its great, think I bought mine from the toolstation, I`ll double check,,,
  15. theres yew and there yew,,,smaller diameter stuff can have a lot of shake,and be pretty much useless,then on the other hand it can be rippled with stunning colours, bit of luck really and price can vary from £20m3 to 60 m3 ,,,all depends,,,and obviously on the end product whether its worth buying at what price,,

  17. the season has started here too, 6m3 out last week, and 10m3 booked for this week, and so it all starts again.
