  1. kev I did take some pics,but my computer seems to have gobbled em up somewhere, and the planks are now burried under some lovely new cedar that I planked,,,lol:thumbup:(theory being the cedar will keep the nasty bugs away)..natural control?

  3. so glad a wickedly nice bit of local walnut is getting used, all the smaller diameter stuff has been milled into planks for furniture too, this wind blown tree is certainly getting a new life:thumbup1:
  4. heres some highly valuable walnut going steves way,,,good catching up mate,looking forward to seeing the results,
  5. kev that walnut trunk yielded 12x 1.5 x8ft planks with some lovely colour,very little sap wood, its milled and drying, and has its origin marked on it, ,treated to protect it from mini beasts, and will be set to dry for 2yrs, then will grace somebody`s house in a bit of furniture, thanks for having the forthought not to log it:thumbup1: a truly highly valuable walnut log

  12. what differences are there? do all new trailers have to be now braked?
  13. my tip too you is "dont cut it so short" and dont put chainsaw cuts in it either, both these things make life a little harder, but understand its not always easy to move large butts from a garden, the guy who buys this has too mill it, season it and then sell it,or like me use it, , strike a deal with someone and ask for a few planks in exchange for it, I`d personelly give you £50 ,at a push, as my time getting to you, and petrol etc, it would help people to know your whereabouts...

  17. that tree has a lot of history and only came from no further than three hundred yards from my yard, great its been given another life,will sort out the rest of it this week:thumbup:

  21. I agree richy B. health is number 1,,,full stop, seconded by a happy and cheery workforce,,,desire to get up and do something you actually want to be doing,,(needless to say my family superceed all this), I love my yard /workshop and job and wish I had longer days,lol
  22. its sad times,,bulldog tools...who make spades etc,,have finally given up producing in sheffield, due too hi taxes and whatever else! they`d been there over a hundred yrs!!
