  1. Thanks already got a vertical riko it was awesome when I had some big stuff to split but now it's all rings i have looked at there other ones but like to assess any others that I might not know about . Ring sizes would range really from 9 inch to 3 ft and 9-12" thick
  2. Hi guys I'm looking to get a new log splitter I mostly do rings nowerdays I like the look of the porsch splitmaster 9 but I'm not sure that 9 ton will be enough to split rings 6 ways a 20 ton would be to big I only need a short stroke of ram also prefer if it had a petrol engine rather than be pto of hydraulics. Anyways does anyone have any recommendations?
  3. Hi king 92 just wondering how you got on with your split master 9 as I am thinking of getting one. But the 9 ton concerns me as I'm not sure it would be enough
  4. I'm in the sane situation just trying to do my research I haven't used one but I like the idea of the cradle on the oxdale thus being able to cut more than one at once opposed to the Riko one that looks like you can only put one bit in at a time. Oh also watch riko stuff they charge extra for PTO shaft and probably wheels too
  5. Just a one point about the 070 if you have a version without the av i wouldn't recommend doing much milling with it as the vibrations are so bad , But it is a DAM good saw it was my first milling saw before the 880, Oh i don't know if any one mentioned but chain wise i would recommend a ripping chain you will get a better finish and a smoother cut
  6. Hi guys i have got my self a large redwood trunk and i am intending to mill it, a local furniture maker is interested in most of it but i have no idea what sort of price to be asking per cubic ft for it, Its well seasoned as i am informed that it has been dead for at least 6 years before it blew down
  7. Hay all any one got any ideas on the best way to mill this eg planks or chunks also how much is it worth ?? and where to look to find possible buyers
  8. Hi guys i am currently trying to restore a old Stihl 090 av i have a couple of questions does any one know if stihl do a complete recoil starter without the fan housing as i have that bit. I would buy a whole new unit inc fan housing if it wasn't £80. Second Question is there a insert for the starter cup that would allow me to use the modern day pawl starter system. The only reason i ask is because i foolishly bought a complete recoil starter from ebay £20 and it has a pawl system so wont grip the starter cup. Thanks Matt
  9. Hi mate this sounds to good to be true did any one take you up on the offer ?
  10. Thanks for your help i will have a measure up next time i am down the yard
  11. Ok i am new to this milling business, I have just milled up a bit of oak its 6-7ft long and about 2ft wide i have 9 2" planks and 1 1"plank. Some one i know wants it but i have no idea how much to charge him ???
