  1. Wow tons of info here to look at, thanks. kw i guess 6 plus at miniumum as want to leave doors open and let heat flow, perhaps an ecofan? bigger logs good along with stove efficiency i guess is hugely important as longer it will stay lit. some reading ahead i reckon.
  2. So i am on the look for some opinions on stoves please. Long story short need a new stove, liner etc at a house and generally have no idea on stoves, What i do know, wood only - all well seasoned and no longer a log than 16 inches (splitter max length) Nice glass door or doors as visual is good. i need efficient as want a fill up 8am and burn for 8 hrs on hardwood, at least i guess 5+ kw Stovax are used by a local supplier, but open to ideas. cost is a consideration as given i need new liner, proper fireplace, chimney can etc and its a 2 floor house.
  3. just emailed my boss who is going to show on behalf of national trust for scotland to take a look at yours Calum - tractor hydraulic powered log splitter Or if you are passing nts stand its a Chris Wardle
  4. ours is year old one, a 2016 model - great bit of kit
  5. paradise or shikara - residual stuff you can mix with something to kill any weeds exising then this stuff keeps regen down. its not too cheap though does go a very long way

  9. usually true but just too far for me to haul it sadly.
  10. where are you based? thanks
  11. i doubt even our john deere zero turn copes with 45 degree slopes with tyres let right down to couple psi, just slides off sideways scaring me
  12. for walk behind if feeling rich etesia and for sensible price kaaz we run a x950r john deere collecter, non high tip but thats preference, it can do high tip and its great. the kaaz mowers are sub 1000 and take a beating, genuine honda engines so they just go and go, turned up a lil after 50 hrs i find them cracking and tolerate odd stone, log edge etc
  13. also asked to view, no reply..... how strange
  14. we run a john deere 3720 45hp compact tractor and use a timberwolf 150 pto chipper. works well but there are minor issues that need overcome. tractor doesnt like weight of chipper behind it on anything other than flat ground, side slopes or in woods even a little are downright scary! front weights and maybe water in tyres sort this. ground clearance can be an issue - very easy to either hang chipper up on something or bash underside of tractor, doubt you get bash plate other than custom made for this. however its great compared to moving branches and the 6 inch capability saves a lot of snedding.
  15. up here second hand sleepers go from 12 to 20 quid each approx
  16. where i work has a fairly clear policy on contacting boss if off unwell etc, does get a bit more messed up if you cant say for sure how many days you will be off for in first week until a doc signs you off. texts are supposed to be forbidden have to call in within 30 mins of start time, so mine at 8am means 7.30 - 8am. guess thats reasonable as boss should be on go anyway. you are supposed to speak directly to boss, not leave voicemail etc. well that sucks if they dont get signal in house... it kind of breaks down to communicate as best as possible, and more is better. I tend to leave boss a text, an email and a message on office phone for estate secretary to tell him. If i think its a day off then i do all of above, same for day 2, then i discuss with him to say i dont expect to be in day 3, ok if i just email later in day to confirm or not day 4. i would expect any employee to at least make the same effort, takes so few mins, and if not face a not so pleasant discussion as to why not. Big point is though i do have an understanding boss who knows if i didnt get to sleep until say 4am with back problems, last thing i want to do is set alarm for 7.30 and crawl to pc etc, or equally will tell me sometimes to take an extra day and be fit. so has to work both ways!
  17. love my 372xpg, wish i had got heated handles on 357 also, but hey ho. 372 is a great saw for big sticks
  18. co pilot app
  19. work now on a go slow so expect pics in aug at this rate.... trying so hard not to break current machine as trade in deal is too good to loose
  20. looks like a lovely valtra - work should be ordering a new A series 88hp one within the week. Dont find cab cramped, but thats coming from a 3720 john deere compact tractor....
  21. dont forget to mix in some kifsgate rose, most god awful stuff! nice hooked thorns so trying to fight it is bad day, comes through type c saw trousers in a second. Grows like mad. horrid stuff but i dare anyone to wade through it
  22. watching - one of my mates would love a good 357
  23. Honda engines should have a plate or stamp on them with an id code which tells a dealer what size stuff is like shaft. So in theory a honda dealer will then just put code into computer and tell you which one to order. I had great service from Seddon direct when i needed a honda engine and highly recommend them.
  24. not on tractor but two landrovers now. Both 48watt led lights. Very bright - very easy to fit and cheap as chips off ebay
