    And another thing that can sometimes happen on an out of the ordinary job,is that although you've planned it in your minds eye,once you explain whats happening at the start of the day,you do occasionally not see the wood for the trees as you've been thinking too hard. This is when an unlikely member of staff may come up with a brainwave that makes a good contribution to the day's work.

    Our eastern european friends send 44 tonners over here driven by 18 year olds.

    Used to use an old laundry basket that had seen better days. We now have a big chunky oblong wicker basket that caught mrs oldwoodcutters eye when she was last in the stove shop. Cost i believe,was about the same as a small s/h hatchback.

    Ive worked with a fair few climbers of all abilities over the years,and nearly all have welcomed my offer of a ladder to get up the first 25 ft to tie in,and as above,always footed properly.

    A lady who was quite flirty when i priced her job last week called me at lunchtime today to say go ahead,i said that i will come on my own and do the job myself friday morning. " but dont arrive before 9 as i will still be in my nighty" I said i will be there at 7.30 then,and she said "well if you want to" I think i can still remember what to do.

    Sat in front of log burner drinking tea most of the day,had a good run but need to recharge my batteries so good opportunity taken.

    Ive only had 1 that caught fire,fresh heap of chip left at job site,burnt down next day somehow.

    Ime not linking the chemicals in r/u to parkinsons unscientificly,its for all to see on wiki parkinsons page,and he does not sit at a computer if he can help it.and secondly there are no crows,magpies or other winged vermin resident, as the farm and its neighboors are fully keepered.Thanks.

    I dont know much about chemicals,but i do know that a good friend of mine who,as a farmer,has been spraying roundup and the like for years like its going out of fashion,and now,in old age,has the terrible shakes of parkinsons,a decease often linked to exposure to r/u. And secondly a yard ive had for years is surrounded by big arable fields being sprayed with something every other week,and year on year the birdsong has decreased in line with the reduction of aphids weedseeds and insects,until now,the whole area for miles around is as quiet as a grave. What price progress?

    I run an 18" bar more often than not on my 460,yes some find it a bit of a handfull if they're not used to it,but i really like it.

    I use the oregon brushcutter shin guards,they're thick,shaped nicely,with strong velcro. They've saved my shins from being sliced open plenty of times.

    Ime chipping at Little Dunham tomorrow,or Beachamwell on Tues, you can have it for free if you make yourself known to us,mixture of birch spruce and oak,but i havn't the time to deliver it to Lynn for you Terry.
