  1. Lyndon, MPG varies on what engine you get, Diesel or Petrol. TDi or TD5, 3.5 or 3.9 V8, lots of variables but the diesel do well, and V8's do even better on Gas conversions. I get roughly 250 miles on 80 litres of Gas from a 3.9 V8 Disco running AT's tyres. Rot depends on the life of the vehicle, they all have there normal rust spots. Discos - Inner front wings, rear wheel arches, boot floor. Defenders - bulkhead corners, Rear cross member are just some of the areas on the chassis. Given all of the above a new Galv chassis is not that expensive and a good edition to your truck if you plan on keeping it for the rest of it's life. Suspension mods are simple enough. I think between 2 of us we fitted a 2" lift to my old disco in 2 hours in the middle of a field at a land rover show. So in a workshop it would be more like an hour with the right equipment. Main things to think about is what is your budget, what you want to use it for and are you worried about cosmetics of the vehicle as you can pick up some with knackered body work but will have a mint chassis and engine. Ask on here or any of the land rover forums before buying for advice as to what to look for. Discovery 1 V8 on Gas are reasoanble purchase for around £1500 average price. some may even have lifts on already.
  2. There monsters of tyres, what are they? Do you have anymore pictures of it all built up?
  3. I'm sure you will love the work. I'm 32 and just moving into the industry from IT. Got a trial next week with a local company to me so if all goes well i could be kicking IT in the butt and looking forward to the long winter working outdoors.
  4. Very lucky indeed, could have lost an eye there easily. Shows that wearing a helmet and visor does go some way to preventing further damaging injury.
  5. Seems pricey considering new price is £290. Reviews here google product views

Some excellent Pictures. Does anyone else have anymore? I'm loving the Land Rover with the Chipper on.
  7. I was taught to use both ends of the rope when climbing, then once the anchor point was in move around on that one rope. Instructor then showed me the use of a side strop instead of using both ends of the rope which i find easier myself.
  8. Have a look here warehouseexpress.com which will give you an idea of price. Go in to your local camera shop and have a play with the various cameras and see which one you get on with best. Also worth looking at the London Camera exchange shops as you can pick up some great bargins.
  9. Just checked on wikipedia, seems the man is right Grass snake head.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  12. Try Micks Harness out and any others you work with. I went to some of the south east Meets (2 out of the 5 that have happened unlike the northern lot ) Where Justin (FR Jones) was there with his vans and goodies and he let me try various harnesses until i found the one that fitted best and was most comfortable. Which happened to be petzl-sequoia-climbing-harness Each to there own on harnesses and i would not buy with out trying first.
  13. Dean you need to get yourself one of these Thermal Mugs Been using mine for years now and although dented it keeps a brew warm for a couple of hours and you can't spill it.
  14. I have a 3.9V8i already fitted with LPG. Runs fine and was great off road. I would replace the orginal fuel tank with a LPG tank and then have a small petrol tank in the wing. which saves you the load space. However i brought one which already has the tank in the load space which i'm saving up to remove. Not sure about LPG in a storage tank, so can't help you there.

    oops

Interesting story indeed. Even with the cars parked there the person doing the job could have used rigging gear to lower branches to prevent damage to peoples property. What if that person was away on holiday when the flyers were posted and came back after the works were completed?
  16. Use a flap liek everyone has suggested. A mud flap from the Land rover would do it. all you need to do though is have a piece of cord running around the outside of the sides that you can pull on from the back so it pulls the flap open when you want to put the ladders back in.
  17. No worries can you send the crisp £50 notes via carrier pigeon please. I don't trust the Post Office.
  18. Have you tried Andrew Heard I use him for my wood at the moment until i've got somewhere to split it and store my own stuff.
  19. I used Mazumma Mobile and got £60 back for my Crackberry. Iphones are going for much much more.
  20. You could try Evans, there not great but have some good sales deals on at the moment. Evans Cycles
  21. Damn. Wise choice. I know of Bomag from old, he will be fine.
