  1. Very interesting thread. I will have to look into this when i get some time free at work.
  2. 29th/30th May is good for me. All clear in the Diary at the moment.
  3. Get some general grabber AT2's, mutts nuts tyres and well worth the money.
  4. My step dad drives diggers and he moves them by road all the time. last distance was from Dorking to Guildford 13\14 miles i think. He moved it early morning no worries.
  5. I don't know what you mean, are you saying that Shane's technique for dismounting the pole was incorrect!!! PM me if you want any of the images in high resolution.
  6. Andy on his way up. After he came down nearly everyone grabbed the Lockjack and had a go. Mick testing out his new harness. Toby hanging around. More images here
  7. A few Photos from yesterdays antics. Philby first on the pole!! Justins emporeum of shiny kit and great food. Shane heads up the pole.
  8. No worries, always good to get a fresh pair of eyes looking at it. Nice website though. Expensive to get designed? Who did you use?
  9. Excellent day, learnt loads, eat loads, met loads of nice people, saw lots of shiny kit and very tempted, role on pay day. Thanks to everyone that organised the meet up. If there is another one at Kingswood i'll be there. Left the camera cable at work so you will have to wait until tomorrow for the Spiking pictures.
  10. Well done, great job. Always good to educate the Young ones. I did a simliar thing for the Beavers group that sent me and my colleagues parcels in Afghan over Christmas they all brought something in from home and made us 4 parcels each and they all wrote letters so when iwas back i made sure we visited them and gave a talk and showed some kit all in our desert uniform, very excited and then it turned in to a mass water fight. Anyway i was going to suggest entering the room from the ceiling on your harness and rope to get there attention straight away. Oh well perhaps next time.
  11. Excellent web site and great pictures, but having some trouble viewing some of the before and after pics in the landscaping part, only shows the after when you click on the pictures and also Specimen tree planting images do not enlarge at all. I'm using Firefox, thought you should know, so you can get it fixed.
  12. Yes there is battery issues, but stating that it is for office users only is a load of rubbish. I would go to another shop. There are such things as in car chargers. If you turn the wifi off as well when out and about it saves battery life. Sounds like the salesman has got a target to reach on the HTC. New version of iPhone due out in June\july. I'm waiting out to get mine.
  13. Sounds interesting, seems like a head torch is the way to go and petzl do some excellent ones. Although if you planning on doing this sort of thing for a long time, look at a helmet mount Ayup which mountain bikers use. Yes they are expensive but you won't find a better lightweight light around. I brought one and you get a funky orange peli case with it for storage and they come with various different mounts. A sound investment and rechargable.
  14. Thank you. As for BBQ, if you can make fire then BBQ is always on the cards.
  15. Excellent this is still going ahead as planned. Is there any chance of bringing down some harnesses to try? Currently don't have my own as not yet in the business but will need one with in the next 6 months.
  16. I was looking at Nikon anyway as i brought a little nikon beer camera in 2008 and that is still going strong, and that's what i took to Afghan with me. So i liked the nikons and just researched on line between D40 and D60 and the price difference was not much for newer model. D90 would also be a good choice to go for being the newer model of them all. Have a look on the photography part of ORRP as there is lots of guys on there with sound advice. That's where i asked, but then i like land rovers too.
  17. Ok just got my leave pass approved. I will be there, will try and drag my mate down as well that doesn't get on the interweb at all.
  18. I brought a Nikon D60 from Ebay with a standard 18-55 lense for £220 i believe. I'm a complete amateur on photography and i get results like these images, Only had a Polarizing filter on the lense to bring the colour in the sky out. Images taken at the Grand Canyon last week.
  19. Why Diesel? You could get a much newer V8 Disco already gased for £2000 easily. If you not worried about the Rear seats you could then remove them and use it as a van. Have a look onLand rover owner that's where i found mine
  20. This was discussed on another forum i go on and there was this reply and it seems a good option and nice and cheap as well. Ok choices available, this is what I have for range days, the gortex linr is button in and out but I have lightly waxed the outside of the jacket. Linky: Genuine Dutch Gortex Jacket with Removable Fleece / gortex lining Or Multicam, although it looks light, it matches UK colours a lot better although only used in summer (Wales, it rained 4 weeks of the time I was there) and late summer Thetford, it merges with the light browns of the UK. DPM seems to Dark. Choice as they say is yours Linky: Multicam H2O ECWS Waterproof Jacket
  21. The Long Haul is what you want. I have one of the Northface Duffel bags the large ones. I got mine when i was in the states last year. took a small bag then brought that and filled it with clothes and goodies then flew home. The rubberised bags are good. There is a few different makes out there but i like the build quality of North face.
  22. Congratulations. You could do a weeks driving course i believe, but they be expensive. I did mine in the army and the tax payer paid for it all.
  23. We settled on a Card for each other. Then spent the rest of my day tiling the kitchen floor.
  24. MMM that doesn't look too healthy. You got it back on the road yet>?
  25. Paddocks are expensive, but i know someone that works there so can normally get things slightly cheaper. Saying that though, i will always use my local garage, better customer service with a personal touch and also to support them rather than a larger group that gets your orders wrong.
