  1. Got a reply to my question this morning. A GENUINE MISTAKE THE WINNING BIDDER CAN COLLECT WITH CASH PAYMENT. - rootsman337 I thought you could adjust the payment options within Ebay, just not within 24 hours of the auction ending.
  2. I have a little Nikon Coolpix which i use as the beer camera when i don't want to take out the DSLR. Nice camera easy to use. I will always say this, go to a shop like jessops and try them all in your price range. Go with the one that you feel most comfortable with. What works for one person might not work for someone else with larger hands/fingers.
  3. Not used my real name as i already had a username from another forum that i've used for the last 10 years so why change. I always introduce myself as recceboy then say my real name to people i have met. I think it all comes from the old AOL days of online chat rooms and people wishing to be anonymous.
  4. You say it's a trek to take it back. I would be getting the company to come and pick it up, there machine failed they can pay the cost of coming to collect it and delivering a new one.
  5. Always do wear one, the Disco has one on the front all year round. I'm also taking the parade in Guildford on Sunday.
  6. I would also like to add a garage in as well. My disco just had an intermittent fault where it would not start. Mr AA man said he thought it was the fuel pump and best to wait until the morning to get a lorry out to get me to the garage. I tried to start it in the morning and the disco turned over. Anyway it ran ok for a few weeks then happened again, left it until the morning and it started ok. I had enough and booked it in to Challenger 4x4. Paul (The Owner) ran tests and couldn't initially find anything until the fault appeared again, They managed to trace the fault back to a blown joint on the Spider circuit board, a new spider was £150 from Land Rover. Land Rover also do a bypass loom. Challenger 4x4 didn't bother with paying Land Rover prices. Instead they made there own loom and bypassed the spider all with out speaking with me. They went for the cheapest option to the customer and also quickest repair time for themselves. I'm like Rupe i don't mind paying a higher hourly rate if they fix the problem.
  7. Excellent information. Well done on the hardwork battling with the EA. Now is there part of the forum where this information could be stored for future reference for any newbies? basically a Law/legislation area were the important links, documents, forms could be stored for future use.
  8. A few helpful links for the Land Rover fans amongst us. Rave CD for Discovery Disco tyre size guide
  9. Last week i purchased a new 18-200mm lense for my Nikon D60 and wanted to get some filters for it. I found www.cameratonic.co.uk to be the best on price as to what i was after and the package was delivered within 3 days. In the packaging was a voucher offer for 5% off. Coupon Number EB15NOV2010 Expiry: 15 Nov 2010 so i thought i would share it here.
  10. I think you need to define a climber first. Is it: A - An employee that has his rescue ticket that is able to Climb. or B - An employee that has his rescue ticket and use of a saw in a tree? There is a lot of Groundies that can climb but have not chosen to do there ticket on climbing with a saw, does this make them any less valuable to your business? How about a Climber that doesn't have his ticket to operate chippers? I think each have there own abilities and worth the money you as an employer are willing to pay them. It comes down to qualifications, reliability, hard working, loyalty and many others qualities that each of us look for in an employee. Only you as an employer can justify how much you pay your employees. Do you pay a groundie more that has worked for you for 10 years more than a College boy that has a years experience since leaving college but has his climbing qualifications. Too many factors to take in to consideration to come up with an answer to suit everyone.
  11. Agree with Andy, a ifor would be better. Bedfords are nightmare to load and parts difficult to source. You would only use off road if you really had too. I had too as that's what the army were using at the time. You have a choice. I don't think you can drive it on a car license either. Sure you would need a LGV license depending on your age.
  12. Try contacting any of the dealers/shops on the right. Lots of great people to do business with.
  13. I know that feeling. Even letting the truck warm up didn't help.
  14. Forgot to add have a look at the following link. Not sure what your budget is but my friend purchased a TD5 110 from these guys and can't fault there customer service or after sales help(in a good way, not due to faults). Quality Used Land Rovers, land rover 110 models
  15. Having driven these vehicles i would advise to walk away with your money in your pocket. However if you did want an ex army truck look at Bedfords with the bar grip tyres on. They are much better off road even without Power steering. For what you have described what your needs are for the vehicle choice i would agree with the HiCap Land rover 110 or possibly a 130.
  16. Sorry to hear of your loss. Remember the good times. I know the feeling as i've just lost a friend. My Mates partner just died in a Diving accident on Sunday. Still shocked now.
  17. As i'm getting married next year the missus also watches Don't tell the bride. it's bloody hilarious some times. I saw Tuesday's episode and the best one so far. As far as I'm concerned he did what he thought was right for his wife to be and put effort in to doing it. Unlike most of the lads that just blow the money on big Stags do's and outrageous suits and fancy venues. Funniest bit was in the flourist talking about colour schemes. "I want Land Rover Burgundy, you must have it. Then hands the keys to the best man, Go and get the land Rover".
  18. Same braces i think. Don't tighten them up so much would be my solution or have some cord attached to prevent them unclipping at the rear.
  19. I don't wear braces, however have you guys tried the Genuine Britsih Army Braces? Nice and cheap, soem on ebay for £2 or new for £8 British Army Issue Braces Genuine Surplus :: Army Navy Store
  20. Excellent set of pictures, nice job as well with the Matador called in to winch. Big thumbs up
  21. Excellent thread as i'm in the design process now. Few question, do you store the logs directly on the floor or on pallets raised up so the air can circulate?
  22. I use a Nikon D60, with 18-55mm lens. I shoot various settings until i find what i want. I have never really got to grips with all the Fstops and DOF, but i have played around with ISO and kind of know about that, well enough to get me by. Interesting thread and one i will be keeping a focus on.
  23. Whistle has been attached to my helmet on a piece of cord so it's long enough to flip in to my gob hands free. Has been since i brought the helemt and started my training. Best place i feel is helmet as you've always got that on when working even whilst doing ground work.
  24. I read this thread last week but never got round to replying. I did however donate to your speedy recovery. Wish you all the best and get well soon.
  25. I don't tow with the Disco, but i know people that have towed with a disco on LPG and didn't have a problem. it's a landrover after all and they tow much heavier loads than any other 4x4 i know off. You could pick up a 90 - 110 TD and then get a disco 200tdi or 300 tdi and convert it. They drop straight in with a few tweaks of the turbo and exhaust. Hell people put 200 tdis in Series vehicles.
