  1. For the time it takes to 'prep' the stem. You could make that extra cut to do a back cut on the full width. Also less to clear up! Also, why cut them off the back aswell? Makes no real difference!
  2. Have you tried the slide yet? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. From my pic yes it doesn't look so bad. But I think its a compounded issue linked to the exhaust and obviously having freely moving parts will help. Straight away the brake felt sharper so I need to get it into some logs to see how well it's worked. Next stage would be to strengthen /reinforce the one side of the handle to decrease its pliability when its warm.
  4. I left the clutch on and just did a general clean around it. Took the brake band off and poked around with a little screwdriver to loosen big bits. Airline and degreaser did enough of a job. Didn't fancy pulling the chain brake spring off as they are a pita to put back on! Will be getting a bench top degreaser and doing all my saws
  5. We put the Christmas tree at shells office in Aberdeen. We have to go and take it out too. 6hours one way. 2 hours on site.
  6. [QUO TE=Jonny Burch;1076699]Cheers for the post Rob. Did you just use an airline for blasting out the crud? I used a combo of hot water and some flash degreaser with an airline. Had no other degreaser to hand. Still did a good job though. Used lithium hi temp grease on all the moving parts
  7. Yeah still in good nick. Not had huge amounts of use. Think I've had it 3 years but it's badged 2010
  8. 2010 I think. Will check in the morning.
  9. It's a common issue. Caused by the exhaust warming up the mechanism side of the handle. Stihl seem unable/unwilling/struggling? To sort the issue (maybe the 661 was the fix, which didn't turn out perfect!) I saw a post about greasing the mechanism an thought before I make an ugly looking piece of metal to make the handle stiff, I'll have a go at that This is what I was greeted with. Lots of dirt and debris that would increase the effort needed to get the mechanism to work. So, after much cleaning and liberal amounts of grease to the moving parts. I'm left with a very easy to operate chain break. Noticeably different from before. Time will tell if its a good fix. Should have got some pictures of it clean. The amount of black crud that came out was unreal. This may affect some and not others. I'll get some more pictures to show what ive done and will update in the future on how well the fix has worked, if it did.
  10. Your mounts are sordin/msa mounts so you want the msa ear defenders. The chipper ones are 31snr. Best I can find that will fit.
  11. These ones http://honeybros.com/Item/Peltor_Optime_3_Helmet_Mounted_Ear_Defenders_3M If you are on an msa mount then you'll need other ones but peltor will go straight on. Visor sits straight on them.
  12. I think he's referring to the ms150t. Not the rear handled version. Good job on the poles. Looks like a tricky spec.
  13. Drift are just as good. I think it's the ghost that is one of the fancier ones. Go pro are just more popular
  14. That is the main thing with any kit. Most of the chippers out there probably that break down and are thought of as rubbish because of no maintainance. Land rovers need maintaining probably more often than other cars but well maintained means they will run well too.
  15. I've put some peltor muffs on with 34snr on. Great muffs!
  16. Crack the angle grinder out and shorten it. 5 mins and you'll be playing firewood
  17. Quadchips are great chippers. Tow very well. Chip great and I think the power of the feed rollers is great. One piece I could barely push in was pulled through effortlessly. The 6x9" feed is good. Chip throw is all you need and more. Can throw it a fair distance. Only hired one in a few times so maintainance I can't really comment on. I have spun blades and that was simple enough.
  18. Couldn't get much better!
  19. Bought one once. Pot and piston knackered. Went back on ebay! Sold a couple on eBay too and they went for surprisingly good money!
  20. 3 bfg MUDs and a cooper discoverer stt size is 35/12.5/10 I think. The balancing on them is terrible so you are fighting with it on the road but it's pretty good at not getting stuck! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Driving ours round some deposit grounds today. I was very glad for the mud tyres today!
  22. You could put all that useless information in one of these:
