  1. Have you tried Dave at Stumpbusters?
  2. I had a warn m8000 on my disco and it was a great winch. Definitely choose synthetic line. Chassis are the same on defenders so you are spoilt for choice for a bumper. You can get one that's a standard shape square with a winch tray that's not overly pricey. The warn winch is quite short so won't stick out too much to the undesirables. Coupled with the standard ish bumper it keeps it looking standard. Alternatively you could get a tubular bumper with spotlight mounts and stick a warn power plant which is 9000lb and has a built in compressor so you can blow your tyres up anywhere. Terrafirma is the posh kit but bearmach is a good middle ground. Personally I would avoid britpart
  3. I'll get some in the morning for you and a video too
  4. Should have said you'll drop some piriteze on the ground near the roots to stop it being an allergen.
  5. The 4 way head arrived today and it is twice as fast. Especially on small stuff that just that bit big to be split Into 2. It's staggered from the first split so doesn't strain the machine as much
  6. I bet you've never needed plate sized chequers pieces either
  7. I love a good neighbour dispute. Had two shouting over the fence at each other once while I was hanging in the tree above them. Nowt as strange as neighbours!
  8. To get a rough average I stand where my eye level looks 45 degrees to the top of the tree, taking into account the parabolic effect. Then pace back to the stem and add your eye height to that and there's a rough guess.
  9. Forward leaning sycamore on a woodland edge. Start the back cut, bang hit a nail, move up an inch, bang hit the SAME nail. Chain now bit knackered. Managed to bore through to sort of create a dogs tooth cut in the wrong order. Was expecting a small breeze to catch it and make it barber chair before I got the bore cut in. Another one in the same group. Slight hole in that one.
  10. Something like that. Filling 8 ton bags a day with it easily and that's not pushing too hard either
  11. I'm 20-25 mins from Warrington centre if its any use. There are some allotments on Chester road too.
  12. If the tree officer sees that it won't have a TPO for long. Get it down soon and you can sell it this winter.
  13. That's an interesting one then. I'm on alloy bashlins and was thinking of carbon ones at some point in the future. Are they different to get used to?
  14. 7.5hp. Didn't think it would be so small
  15. Yeah we do when there's lots of smaller stuff. That's a handy feature.
  16. Lump of knotty beech. The half speed/double power option is very handy. Our last splitter couldn't do this piece.
  17. I got our 362 brand new in jan 2012. It's got a 2009 sticker on it It's an awesome saw. 8t sprocket and sharp 20" chain and its a flier.
  18. Solid and heavy machines. I've used the one that global have. The 8" turntable. Spat its dummy a bit when I used it but up until that point it was a strong chipper. The bandit I used after it was a lot better though!
  19. I've cut a bottle in half and used the bottom bit as an emergency cup for a brew.
  20. I have a pair of size 9 zermatts in need of a re sole. Small spike wound on one boot that could be easily glued together. Sole is split underneath. Rest of the uppers are good. Good boots done me really well for 15 months. Got the new pair as I couldn't wait for the new sole to be fitted. It's the pair on the left
  21. Willow, maple and sorbus I reckon. The knotty stuff will be a bit trickier but most of it will be ok. All burns well as others have said. The drier the better!
  22. We bought an Oxdale one the other week and it's very good. Simple to use and runs on a compact tractor. For emergency stop there's a lever that disengages the drive to the blade that's to hand just incase.
  23. Ammo box here too. Fits everything in and it can be kicked around, literally!
  24. Maybe it was given to him to use as part of an organised group?
  25. Maybe he thinks he's done something right to get £15k+ for a saw? He might not have the nouse to figure it out.
