  1. I hope it's not the dreaded Chalara. Tree has been previously coppiced to give rise to 3 stems, 2 of which are very dead while the remaining one still has decent leaf on it. Lesions don't look right for it (I think) and only half the tree is dead.
  2. It amuses me no end to hear my nephews talking. My brother grew up on the Thames estuary like me, whereas his sons grew up nr Chesterfield.
  3. The epicormic could predate the bark damage, I suppose?
  4. Are you 'aving a bubble, china?
  5. Difficult to tell because I'm not keen to start pulling the bark off. There is some epicormic though.
  6. Exactly, so it's not spelt wrongly as it is a phonetic spelling of a word you probably won't find in a dictionary.
  7. Tbh, I thought 'cizzer' was dialect rather than mis-spelling.
  8. The bark is completely hanging off this one and it doesn't look to be doing too bad.
  9. I was expecting a picture of your wallet, Dean.
  10. Good spot. Yes, white mycelium approximately 1" by 3" in area.
  11. I was strimming around some trees and was rather concerned by the state of the bark on this willow. The tree looks fine until you get underneath the canopy and see that the bark has lifted off the trunk. This is in evidence in varying degrees right up the trunk. The bark is rigid and non-pliable, although it does not seem overly brittle. The wood underneath seems dry and has some black staining but I can't see any rhizomorphs or fruiting bodies. The tree in question stands nearly on top of a land drain which handles water from roadside ditches outside the estate and is suspected of blocking the drain with its roots. Any advice/information gratefully received.
  12. In that case, it was ok. Don't do it anymore as your English is too good now, Dan.
  13. I wish. Already had a couple of Doombars with dinner. That's plenty for a school night.
  14. It beats having them steal it instead.
  15. Got both sorts made by Bulldog. Seem to be good.
  16. Any comments on Monkey Shoulder? Was given a bottle a while back and forgot all about it until I found it in the cupboard yesterday.
  17. When I subbied to one particular firm, they had a bloke working for them that everybody knew as 'Idiot Boy', or 'Lazy Pete'. His phone use was so bad that in the end when he skived off to answer phone calls or texts, I just used to stop work and stare at him until he got the message. Mind you, some of his chat on the phone was hilarious, like a chavvy version of Mills and Boon; 'Babe, I luv ya more than life itself' as he was picking his nose:lol:
  18. No, they're waiting for the bloke with the Stihl 261 to replace another melted bearing and catch up.
  19. Got me there. I haven't looked yet.
  20. I put a new chain brake on an old Husky 41 yesterday. I used a metal plate to hold the spring in place (nothing new there, saw it on Youtube) and a slotted screwdriver head from Screwfix to push the tab onto the brake off position. The slotted head was in a pack of heads for security screws(about £5) which I had bought for the Torx heads with the cut out. While on the subject of the Husqvarna 41, can anybody tell me the mixture settings for this saw please?
  21. Husky New Balance.
  22. Got one of them in my ammo tin, right next to the sonic screwdriver.
