  1. No, it isn't the same. In the case of the shotgun, you are showing pre-meditation and unreasonable force in the eyes of the law. If you have your dog in a secure area that belongs to you with adequate signage warning people both to keep out and that there is one or more dogs loose inside, then any injury received by them would be viewed completely differently.
  2. Get the local paper involved to make sure plenty of people see the photos.
  3. Fair point about the shyness, mate. I suspect as the thread progressed, they weren't feeling the love! I still say it wouldn't do them any good anyway due to Stihl's own policy of no distance sales unless, of course, there are different rules for different dealers.
  4. Well, 'Stihl dealer in Scotland' needs to be a bit more forthcoming with their name if they want free publicity. Not sure it would do them much good though. If people are local to them, they odds on know they are there and are a captive market. If people aren't local then they can't buy from them anyway.
  5. A bloke I know carries his CS100 in the back of a pick up so you should be ok in a van. I've used both the Greenmech and the simiar sized JoBeau(M300?) in the past and both were good. I thought the JoBeau had a bit more go in it though.
  6. The cynic in me thinks it was started by a forum member who fancied stirring things up again.
  7. Andy, I've never had any illusions about the contempt with which large businesses view their customers as individuals. Just because me not buying Stihl anymore won't impact one iota on the company doesn't mean I will view it as a futile act and go along with what they aim to impose instead. Who knows, if enough people did the same they might notice. I won't lose sleep either way.
  8. Something perhaps that the Stihl dealer network needs to understand. None of us can resist the force of change, it's adapt and survive or fall by the wayside. The convenience of the internet is in our lives everyday, whether you (and that is a general you, not specifically aimed at Andy) like it or not. To do something like Stihl has done is short sighted and unfortunately will damage their sales, I expect. Speaking personally, I have bought 2 machines recently, a brushcutter and a semi-pro saw for one of the guys on the team to do his 30/31 with. Whereas normally I would look at both Stihl and Husqvarna for the best machine/deal, now I just go straight to Husky. I still use the same dealer as before as the service I receive from them is excellent so I see no reason to change them.
  9. Welcome, Rob. This is a great site which will provide many answers that you might need in your new venture.
  10. Looks perfect for doing the (private) school run.
  11. I think it says more about what they think of us if they expect us to believe it.
  12. Where does it say he is a Nigerian General?
  13. That's more like breakfast, mate. Not too sure about that many beans though!
  14. Oh, lovely. Just in time to get back to work then.
  15. Grey today and yesterday, about 10 degrees cooler.
  16. Ah, I knew there must be a reason.
  17. Anybody else think it's strange that a dealer should choose late on a Saturday night to make his first posts?
  18. You haven't even told us the name of your dealership. All you have done is chant the Stihl mantra and give us some contact info which Google comes up with in less than a second. What are you hoping to achieve?
  19. TCD and Dolmar will be quids in?
  20. Stihl are certainly trying to stop me or anybody else being able to buy from any other dealer than the nearest one by putting the obstacle in place of costing me the time/ inconvenience of having to go personally to collect anything in the Stihl range rather than being able to order over the phone/internet then carry on with my day. Husky all the way now.
  21. Why should Andreas Stihl tell me where to spend my money?
  22. Care to be more specific about the name of your company?
  23. Looking like it should be a good one, Rich, Hope the weather sorts itself out by then.
