  14. just been asked tonight if i'd hire my jenson and van to a guy i used to work with who'd priced a job unseen , and come unstuck with it. large sweet chestnut to remove. i've told him yeah, but i'm feeding it, but as he's a mate, and in a fix, i'll do it for £200 for the day. he's said i'm too dear its gonna cost me £50 for fuel for the day, wear n tear on the truck n chipper take it or leave it i think
  15. i've been thinking of getting a bigger van, there were some 6ton renaults on fleabay recently, and rang vosa re 'O' lisence, taco etc. Was told the usual bollox. you've got to get an 'o', you've got to get planning permission, you MUST have £4500 in the bank to prove you can maintain the vehicle, you MUST use Tacho's etc. this is just so i can get a larger truck so's i'm not not overloading all the time ALL new taco's are digital, this means anyone who drives the truck has to have a card @ £30 plus each. i've got to BUY the software to download the cards with £500+, as well as a card reader £??????? now i've just set up, cash is tight at present, so thats out of the question. talking about it down at the local on our usual friday tea time drink, and one of the lads is a traffic officer (he's not very popular), and he mentioned the exemption. i rang VOSA on monday, and the muppet who answered the phone didn't have a clue, i'm STILL waiting for him to get back to me with the correct information. i'l keep you informed

  23. Picked a job up today to remove half a dozen Sycs, birches etc In the middle of the site, to come out, is a Blue Cedar, approx 15/17 mts tall and about 24" across at the base the thing is, the cedars got the straightest trunk i've ever seen, good thickness most of the way up. i've given the client a price to drop n log the lot, and a price for drop and me remove ALL timber from site. is the cedar worth much, bearing in mind i'll have to arrange to somehow get the log off site and to my yard. i've been threatening to buy an alaskan, could be tis is the push i need any thoughts would be appreciated dave
