  1. I agree with David about the wind damage. I'm based around Derry and many of the trees up here are the same - too far from you to suffer from salt. I imagine the leaves suffered in much the same way as the trailing edge of a flag does - eventually the high rate of 'flapping' just causes structural damage within the leaf.

    Tree creeper

    And they only work upwards.
  3. Ssshh....
  4. I liked the laser etching.
  5. Very interesting brief at the start, Reg. Thanks. By my standards, some of those lumps are still big lumps!

    rope

    There's a trend developing here.
  7. All I'm getting is an 'Invalid Attachment' message.
  8. Or a shackle with a bar?
  9. Have you tried it out yet? I'm curious to know if your line will rub on the rope at the wee red krab and pull this krab up into your Pinto. It looks like it might be tight enough to do so when that part of your RG is hanging at an angle.
  10. I was thinking along the same lines. I've found that the staff that are working at the shop till aren't working elsewhere for a very good reason.

    The Amazon

I share your obvious concern but remember - we did the same to Europe's forests in the name of farming and naval fleets to rule the waves. There are many in Europe who, having progressed into the 'first world', now feel in a position to lecture developing countries on how to care for the environment.
  12. Is it on a snooker table?
  13. Ben, Drew will be SO disappointed in you. Oh, the shame!
  14. I'm inclined to agree. A spliced loop is as permanent as two eyes spliced onto the Pinto. The knots (on the prussic or on the Pinto) allow the gear to be disassembled - I think that was quoted as one of the issues. The one difference I see between the spliced loop and directly-spliced eyes would be when the prussic isn't loading equally on each eye - a loop would allow the pulley to find the 'bottom' and equalise the load on both sides.
  15. I agree. Speedy up - speedy down!
  16. 'Total Tree' ?
  17. I've used the Petzl one with my daughters. This harness has a high attachment point which prevents inversion but you have to be careful how you attach to it - you don't want to knock them on the face with a krab.
  18. On the Petzl ascender, I clip a krab through the two holes at the top - thus keeping the rope within the cam housing. This doesn't prevent a twig from causing malfunction, but it keeps the rope where it should be.
  19. Treetools Blog | tree climbing information worth sharing with your mates Maybe try this one? (By 'specifically' I'm assuming you mean a set-up that doesn't use a chest harness?)
  20. vtio.org.au Try the SRT section on this site. Then go to the downloads list.
  21. Well not 'everything'. You passed, didn't you? Well done!
  22. Settle down, Paul, and less of the drama queen! Did you attend all of the training? When there, did you pay attention? Were you given feedback by your trainer? Was this feedback positive? Do you remember how you felt after being given feedback? That's how it'll go tomorrow, as long as you pay attention and take your time. Now stop wasting energy - get a night's sleep - you've got a big day tomorrow.
  23. Loops or reels, Justin?
  24. What happened then? A happy outcome?
