  1. That 'feature' has been mentioned on other posts - although the contributors didn't always state that it was necessarily a 'downside'!
  2. Any jeweller's feather-edge diamond file will work on the Sugoi. Ebay it.
  3. A nice bit of wood-working, Matty. What size is it? Did you consider taking the bark off the legs?
  4. And you could even get a new kit bag while you're at it!
  5. You're quite right, Sean - but I don't think in abbreviated punctuation.
  6. When thinking about 'bats in trees', I couldn't get away from the thought of willow. (Think about it, got it yet?)
  7. I think I got mine from Treeworker, (over to the right of this page) but I think that was just the colour they had. Might it be that the factory just runs them off in batches of a particular colour?
  8. It might just be a case of 'getting out the different insulating tapes'.

    Lichens

    Thanks.
  10. Wouldn't want to shock-load one that had been shock-loaded! I didn't know they were designed for that.
  11. I don't know, Brad. Mine is just black, I didn't really consider the colour.

I understand. So the pH of a particular tree species IS significant with regards to the lichen species that may colonise its surface?

In what way might these lichens be influenced, Ben?
  14. Yes - I understand now.
  15. C'mon - you knew someone would ask! What's a tramp steamer?
  16. How much have you got! Suits you, sir!
  17. Hi Sagen, do you have access to tree climbing groups over there? As is often the case, joining a group or club might provide the experience you need to enable informed choices to be made. You might also get the opportunity to try different pieces of equipment and receive useful advice.
  18. That's fair enough - but what does a tree cutter change into? Many of the spin-offs (gardening etc.) would be a drop in wage.
  19. I agree. Not really making a recommendation - just a 'show you mine ... show me yours' comment. If I knew then what I know now, I'd opt for something like an ART positioner.
  20. Is your set-up simple because it works for you, or for some other reason? I usually use one rope, VT, hitchclimber and a lanyard with grillon - it's simple but not as simple as yours.
  21. What about a cambium saver?
  22. If the company has a physical address, contact their local trading standards authority and get them to call round and knock at the door.
  23. I'm signing off aswell, and I echo Matt's wishes - although I believe offense can only be taken, not given. And if we are allowed to quote from great minds (as others have done tonight) may I leave you with one. "When you have studied and understood why you are able to dispell all the false gods, and believe only in the one true God - then you will understand how I can dispell your one true God."
  24. Do you believe that all animal species (remember I'm not even going near plants or bacteria) could be contained in a vessel that covers a small fraction of one side of one mountain?
