  1. I bought a stihl mse 220 . Plenty of power to run its 16" bar. I miss the smooth clutch you get on a petrol and there are no anti vibs which is a killer even after 20 mins. Not for hrs of logging ok a if you really must but normally pic up the ms260 instead.
  2. Probably something to do with the idiot in america that threw petrol on his barbeque at a show recently and burnt out 60 cars. You cant educate pork but you can make up tighter legislation. The general public are stupid enough to refill a petrol generator while its running so thats put the kybosh on that.
  3. Nooooo I end my auctions at 11.15pm on fridays to get rid of the crap
  4. Management make the rules but often its the employees that enforce them with such glee. Same thing with people that enforce H&S in large firms there bored and a bit of confrontation passes their day. As been said above pick a garage run by asians I often fill loads of 20 litre jerry cans with diesel and petrol never had a problem.
  5. They stick mine through the arc but clean the wheels by hand and disarm something on the car wash. When you jet wash an i10 then a cruiser you realise how big they are.
  6. Useful info I did wonder. I put a bag of green poplar kindling in the tunnel during the heat wave and it was dry in 10 days. I wondered if we could dry pallets of kindling through the winter thinking may have to fit a fan to move some air.
  7. Went from a navarra to the lc parking the lc is easier better steering lock.
  8. I have been a moderator for the last 10 mins apparently
  9. Yes bought 10 litres of black wax oyl 3 years ago just not had the time and cant really be arsed. I worked out I can earn the money before it rusts through. Rolling around underneath reminds me of owning my defender.
  10. Think ours is 3 or 4 speed with overdrive. 1999 plate yours was newer I think. I am normally a buy them new get rid at 5 years man. This thing has lasted 14 years and still as new no visible wear rust or noises.
  11. The best I have had out of my diesel auto was 28 mpg driven sensibly through france. Never seen more than 23 mpg since. 20 mpg towing 3.5 tonnes on the motorway but back roads towing up hills you are in to single figures. They are a bit heavy on fuel but the disco 3 will give you huge repair bills the Lc wont. I see there is now a pattern exhaust available I replace mine with genuine 2 years ago and it was nearly £1000 with vat.
  12. Well you have you logs now and have found a supplier you are happy with. I have to go now and sit in my hot tub and admire my Ferrari in the background while I count the badly filled bulk bags of logs in the yard.
  13. some people have a real problem working with nippers often caused by repeated bad experience. But on the whole I dont think people on here are that narrow minded. We have a lot of banter on site its because we are jealous you have a thick head of hair, dont put on a stone when you eat a bucket of chicken and need a ten minute nap at 3 in the afternoon
  14. No a ton is more if its oak cos its denser, talking of denser
  15. I enjoy my work unless someone is shouting at me to run to the generator with the oil and filters.
  16. I think I should point out we dont have a problem with people under 25. I meet a lot of people younger than this that are mature and switched on. By the same token I meet a few 40 year olds that are not
  17. So you have 4 bags how much was in them ? . You posted last December that you were unhappy with the bag system yet 8 months later you bought a bag with out really knowing whats in it. What your really looking for is a full transit load for £50. I would say you have enough spare time to get screaming bargain on everything you buy. The people on here have families to support and mortgages to pay and need a good margin on what they sell to pay their business bills before they even look at net profit. For some reason I knew you would start a new thread. To anyone starting or thinking of going into selling logs please dont think all members of the public are like this. I would say this is one in a hundred and you soon get a feel for them when they ring up.
  18. If I needed training on a chipper I would rather it was from one of the lads on here that has years of experience. There are too many pale face unqualified pen pushers offering training that have never commercially operated a chipper or actually used a forklift for example. You can get some nice certificates paper from viking. If you have been trained in house with notes to prove that you are competant why not produce a certificate in house.
  19. I promised to post these pics sorry for delay been working away. The way you have fitted your springs may be better, mine have knocked one of the bump stops off. My springs fit over the upper stop. You may find when loaded you need to adjust the brake proportioning valve as the rears wont do much.
  20. Can you run in leg irons when you are 50 ? . I am 45 now and yes it gets harder after 40 luckily what I lack in youth I make up for in wealth so dont need to be beasted all day long. You may find people over 40 have skills that help get through the job quicker like the saying goes more haste less speed ( stops the fence rail going through the chipper )
  21. I tend to prefer to see people get it posted rather than worry about spelling etc I have seen some really useful info written badly but still very useful.
  22. Good truck and it has a fantastic 45 deg camber angle
  23. I am compiling a young persons phrase book so we can communicate more effectively on site. A few to start To be honest with you ( I am lying through my teeth ) To be fair ( I am still lying through my teeth if I stand my ground the old git might back down ) For sure ( I am not listening to a word you said had me tea break now focused on Lunch ) "Yea but" followed by very fast speech ( I am not doing that ) In it ( no idea on this one but its on the end of most sentences )
