  1. following on from my pictures in another thread, went back today, got it to the main union ready to fell and take away at some point in the near future. took the helmet cam footage as some people seemed interested in seeing a vid of it, so here it is.
  2. and a heavy trigger finger to get them too hot you cant hold the handles anymore
  3. todays stunt fell did a high fell to make it fit, i no it wont count to some people because of the winch but the tree was hollow so we wasn't going to take any chances.
  4. certainly was big enough, confirmed to me why i dont and never will give a quote from a picture. the big cuts you can see at the unions are over 20inches if that helps scale it abit.
  5. ive done a few things in recent months but not posted really, i had the helmet cam in the truck ready but wasnt in the mood for messing about really ill hopefully get some footage from friday though.
  6. yes a 3rd man would have made a difference but still would have been a 2 day job, ive got a 3rd man for friday when we go back just so he can be logging up and loading up the truck with wood and tipping off where the few neighbours are having loads of logged up wood. aye we were doing big sections 2 ian most of them stems were 2 cuts and they were down to the union we were on the coast aswell was rather gusty!
  7. started this beech dismantle today, got a good half of it rigged out and rung up and chipped between the 2 of us. back again friday to see how far we get with the rest of it, the wind played havoc today blowing a absolute gail in the worst direction possible. had a early day i only did about 5 hours up the tree, on the ground at 2pm hopefully friday wont be as windy.

  18. I do agree were stacked out at the min and the calls are coming and coming more and more we rarely do 5 days though 4 days working and the 5th is admin and quotes etc.
  19. Exactly right me and another guy i work for prefer 3-4 day weeks easy short days, recently another guy i work for used to work 5-6 hard days a week for peanuts, hes now like us much better to put your prices up win less work but on the whole you end up far better off. Less stressful your body doesnt take such a hammering. Nothing worse than a busy fool!
  20. Im adopted so no idea of my real family, but my adopted family i have a older sister. My wife to be has currently got a kid on the way 14/15 wks gone im hoping for a little boy but what will be will be.
  21. Back to the original post if thats all you can afford get it, make the best of your current situation and what you have avalible it might be a pain snedding stuff right out but you have to make it work till you can afford bigger kit. It has to beat stacking brash into a trailer or truck!
  22. Ive got 1 of there petrol log splitters as has a mate of mine there 2-3 yrs old now paid for them selfs twice over and still going.
  23. I wouldnt even bother with it tbh. This is what i bought several years ago pulled many big trees over with it. Pulled my truck out of a field sunk upto the axles. Pulled stumps out with it. Never not worked solidly built has safety pin in the handle and for what it costs is best value for money you will get. There not heavy like tirfors either. You get 20meters of cable. http://bit.ly/Yg6kmL Heres a job i used it on winched over a couple of oaks.
