  1. Only 1 redirect and that was through a nice big union.
  2. Would have been nice to stunt fell it, but client wanted it left just above the main union and there was a drain running infront of it in the middle of the lawn. So dismantle it was Thats the first time ive had the saw stuck with a section up a tree hopefully the last aswell.
  3. Yup was a option i was going to do was just as easy with one on the tag line and one on lowering line.
  4. yesterday and today was this tree, only difficult part was the several lowest limbs, some having cracks all the way through and being a couple of feet above the roof and stretching way past the edge of the roof, and just the angle of both stems leaning over the roof made it difficult to get stuff to go into the garden. couple of bloopers in there, first being the lump of timber catching my lanyard and ended up lifting the section up so i could undo my lanyard, and right at the end the last lump of timber the saw got stuck in the section being felled off and dragged the saw with it lucky in the split second i desided to just let go of the stihl 660 still scary to think what if.
  5. I personally wouldnt work how you do, but i like watching your vids, i certainly wouldnt say your doing anything dangerous its just rough and ready and getting the job done i cant knock it at all. Keep up the good work
  6. Beat me to it david, i had the same problem with my old laptop, soon as i got new imac it runs perfect. You can buy a led screen for the gopro i wouldnt recomend it though as the battary life is shocking as it is. I have the big extra battary pack attached to the back of mine just about gets through the day.
  7. Bit of mucking about on friday. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Had this old lime to reduce today tpoed so spec was 3m off the height and 2m on the sides and crown lifted to 6m and deadwood. Had it done by lunch time had 20mph winds but in a favourable direction. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Not much of a debate really either, especially as your the only one who has seen the tree etc so im just speculating. As many do on other peoples pics and vids mine included. Trouble is there so misleading to the real site and size of the job.
  10. You will get some sag but at least with the grcs you would be able to almost eliminate that, you lower the limb onto the line as normal then tension the speedline up let the running line go down it comes. in your case it seems its only got to take the limbs 15ft max before its beyond that fence which would be way before the midpoint on the line so even less sag to worry about.
  11. But if your balancing was out its no different to on a normal rigging line it wont go down the speedline till you let it, but sure you did what you could, its 90% of my work tight jobs like that. Yesterday i was picking up 15inch diameter birch trees with the grcs and avoiding the obsticles around snedding them out as we lower the whole tree. Long as were all making money and not breaking things who cares how we get the job done.
  12. Could you have speedlined with my grcs though? Since you can lift the limb up as high as you can get the anchor point. Hard to tell from the pics how much room there is on that concrete.
  13. Im seeing him tomorow ill ask him for a date, well its hard to find a decent climber locally that i know of, soon as he said he thought 3 days for me i instantly thought of you and this thread, much easier with 2 climbers. Be good to work with you. I no that with this new company there will be more work to come like if im on holiday he will need someone to climb etc. if you could pm me your rates and what your next avalible date is ill have word tomorow and let you know.
  14. Hi adam are you still avalible to subby climb? As my new business venture is joining another firm to make a big firm, basically the new company we have got a big big oak to tip reduce all round the other guy has looked at it and put 3 days on it but im thinking be better all round to have 2 climbers do it quicker and with less effort. Job is it kings lynn. Wont be for month or 2 if you would be up for it?
  15. Could you not remove 1 of them panels and fell it? Or speedline?
  16. Nice vid enjoyed that. Got to love a job where you can just drop it all.
  17. Summer time is best, but anytime really as long as theres not going to be a frost for awhile after youve cut it.
  18. I never gad pain, blisters was the main problem when i started! Im sure its just the fact you havent got the right muscles in the right areas yet. Switching systems wont solve the problem it just switches which muscles i find if im using a hitch with a pulley my forearms kill, i always use a prussik now though and dont ache anywhere.
  19. Cheers guys i didnt enjoy it the first day but got into it the 2nd day when i filmed the extra man always makes a huge difference.
  20. Im not to clued up on the ins and outs but if it was me i would get a block of 12/15 tons, im sure someone who knows will answer soon enough
  21. Id say 12ton at the least. Same with your anchor slings and shackles need to be over the pulling power you could get. Always best to be safe when it comes to winching that much force!
  22. Nice vid, i do like a good time lapse.
  23. I never will get why you would want to be tied into the crane once you get into position! Also terrible slinging dead easy on timber like that.
