  1. So it looks like they climbed up a tree branch walked maybe then came down and went for a pint. Was any real work carried out, seems there were no groundies managing the ropes and the rigging down of the branches cut.i think the video and photos should be published, the AA is meant to represent the industry so just what do you get for your subscription? they should make it widely known that they do not agree with the HSE therefore bringing into question the approved code of practise. It would then need to be revised
  2. Get a far bigger crane stand along way back not to damage edges etc and lift all out in one go
  3. Some might argue that utility arb where they generally work on one side of the tree and not very high, has no relevance when the rest of the industry can be approaching 100ft up and in three dimensions
  4. Given that the hse is now self funding, their income is from the fines they issue. And climbers will now require more training, and the AA have rolled over and surrendered. It seems this is one big money making excercise for the old boy network, based on dodgy statistics
  5. We use these almost daily. no 171 “open notice” can lead to a lot of problems they then start asking for streetworks ! supervisor and operative and you can’t be both. The fines keep the local authority in business. From talking to my local area supervisor in Essex they see tree works as a revenue stream to be exploited. just having to park your truck in the road requires notice and compliant signing and guarding if not another fine. All the utility companies are conversant with them. Some opt to pay the fine if they get caught and hope they don’t.
  6. The fact is the blade tips are traveling at at least 300mph and if they come loose they fly off unrestricted by any guard therefore they do not comply with the regs with a chainsaw there is little centrifugal force to overcome. Realistically nothing will happen until somthing does then the bricks will fall, ignorance is no defence in law
  7. You can do a lot with the old style metal 520+ given the right weights, adjustments and a clever driver they will lift nearly one tonne are smaller than the new ones. All parts can be found at your local hydraulic shop the engine is bomb proof, I have looked at getting a new one,had them on demo.my lads still get into the old 520+ first. When you sum up the parts of an Avant/ multione the price far exceeds the cost of the parts. These on eBay look good value for money. I think they might well be worth a serious look.
  8. If you read the document it states metal blades made from more than one piece this blade is covered by the HSE statement
  9. These are similar to the broggio heads from a few years back, I think they might not be legal to use, as the riveted on teeth can fly off with no guard to stop flight
  10. Believe they made parts for avant so could be an exact copy the engine is kubota,
  11. But you still get paid the same rates for the machines
  12. Then you have answered your question find the cheapest cover and take it,if they play up you have only lost the truck s value and if it’s not a lot you win, my foreman had a policy with Hastings no end of problems when he was shunted from behind .
  13. I have nfu on my vans and trucks easy to deal with when it comes to claim and they pay out, how much is that worth, £600 is fifty pounds a month £12.50 a week less than £2.50 for a working day I don’t think that’s expensive
  14. When you price up the constituent parts of any of these loaders they are all very expensive a total rebuild on my avant just keeping the chassis and arms looks like £12000 new engine pumps motors hoses valve chest and steering
  15. Do The documents were palmers leverage on other people, in the event of his death they were to be released to the papers and the police. No documents. oh dear!!! He was shot six times in the chest the police put it down to a heart attack, until the autopsy. All a bit fishy
  16. They are all linked the journalist seemed to know his source
  17. The chaps name was John Palmer
  18. I read and was told that a life assurance policy was in one of the boxes, it disappeared, the person is now deaceased.
  19. They were looking for a specific item and found it,the rest was collateral damage a lot of small businesses like us lost out on uninsured materials and work in progress.
  20. Where is it,what is it doing, how thick is it, all this will help
  21. I’ve got shaken dirt and slobber in places I’ve not got paint it gets everywhere!
  22. I know of a litter of pups expected next month Newfoundland x st Bernard mother landseer Newfoundland father probably will be big pictures of dad
