  1. If the arb association is producing the code of practise how many people are involved/ consulted before its published I’ve always thought of the AA as a bit of an old boys club. Will they actually represent the industry or seek to ingratiate themselves with the HSE, if the industry doesn’t agree with the HSE how can it be enacted the HSE are not the experts if they were the AA would not be writing the icop, how representative is the AA of the industry are more than 50% of companies and individuals involved in arboriculture members? If not shouldn’t this be put out to the whole industry to write not just a couple of people in a office in Gloucestershire, I suggest the membership of this forum have more experience collectively than the AA Rant over
  2. They ricochet badly better with .17hmr but still need back stop pellets have far less travel, having used a hw 80 at 20 feet lbs. it was not as pleasant to use as a pcp and had a lot of spring noise and recoil I would try one before spending your money, also slow on second shot pcp is popular for a reason.
  3. Bellway ,Cadent, crest Nicholson, southern gas network Barrett Croydon was the worst wanted tickets for everything told them didn’t have strimmer, tracked stand on Dumper didn’t exist neither does tracked loader. So left site got call 5 mins later get back to site and start they would sort it out just make sure we had a supervisor gold card
  4. Gold is a supervisors card some sites require a supervisor if you have more than a couple of chaps working, and it looks better than a green one
  5. I have a gold fence erectors card been using it for site clearance for last 10 plus years the sites don’t care as long as you have a card they don’t even read them just want the number on the card
  6. Liss card covers tree work I get away with a std cscs labourers card usually they just want a card
  7. Is this as good as a dedicated grinder?
  8. My auger will bore through Tarmac I just found the lack of control and vision plus the amount of weight required meant that a dedicated grinder was far better. avant and some others used to do a stump grinder with its own engine for the front a better idea for a low powered loader
  9. Tried one on my loader didn’t wasn’t impressed not enough push down far quicker with grinder was difficult to get whole stump kept slipping of
  10. Have you seen the size of the puff adders hide in the debris under the trees and wait to be trodden on
  11. In South Africa I would be more worried by the black mamba it likes to climb trees and is fast
  12. Adders do like a old tip must be the rodents
  13. I work on a site that has the highest concentration of adders in southern Britain on the right sunny day a brief walk in the right place you will see a dozen, the old boys on site say that they are rare now compared to the 60/70s
  14. 4 in 1 on a 360 I’m not seeing that it’s any use, surely better to have a hydraulic thumb,
  15. Let’s keep it that way
  16. Google mantis ulv there are others
  17. Has anyone tried the hot water/foam based sprayers
  18. When you look at the volume of material going through, the abuse they take and still work and the size of the throat to take material without having to trim, they are heavy enough not to shake themselves to bits and they last. I believe parts although not cheap work out as value for money. You also have a machine that is slow to depreciate.
  19. I’ve got a bandit spares are not cheap but I very rarely buy any they are built like tanks, filters hoses and parts for the engine are easy to get and not expensive
  20. Why not ? Go on go for it
  21. Becoming a arb contractor
  22. Thatcher also use hazel
  23. Found a 900 MM long ish point for a Kango breaker any one interested
  24. best low vibration hydraulic breakers are by Stanley but they are very heavy to lug a Around compared to a electric plus you pay for the fuel customer usually supplies electric free
  25. You can get chisels and points for your kango up to 1m long plenty for most post holes
