Hi all I am looking into doing some kindling I have been looking around at what is being sold in the shops and I see most of it is packaged up in plastic bags but u can see they have been sealed . Can anyone who uses this method to package them up do you use a machine if so how much is it along with the role of plastic ? just some info Or is it best to use nets ? I am looking at small quantities . Thanks littletree:thumbup:

  4. Hi there I had I really nice assor when I did mine , just take your time and enjoy . The only hard bit for me was doing the chogging down bit on the standing stem with no spikes but it all went well The end . They will let you have a couple attempts at a cut if it was not going well well so don't panic They do want you to do well, a fail happens if it's becomes clear to them that you are just not getting anywhere and are not able to do it to the standard required within a reasonable anoint of time 39 was my faverate assessment 31was my worst All the best littletree:thumbup:
  5. Hi there if I was pricing for one of my jobs it would be 80 quid as don't like going out for less as y still have to drive there and by the time y have finished cleaned up it always takes much longer then y think I did do a job right on my doorstep at the weekend that was to cut up a windblown branch . I did this for 60 but it did not involve any climbing and was I minut up my road , but for everything have a min call out for the smaller jobs of 80 quid a pop . Hope this helps littletree:thumbup:
  6. Hi there 300 notes would barley cover the cost of a 2 person gang with truck and chipper . But in these times I would say that that companies are brining down the cost just to get the work rather then having it sitting in the yard . I would say the avridge would be the 450 Mark Littletree:thumbup:
  7. Good on your lad it's a great idear
  8. Hi I have never greased any of my noise sprockets and never had a jam I think if you start to grease them it can attract dirt in there and cause a jam . Littletree:001:thumbup:
  9. Hi there it sounds like oil in the fule tank . After a good flush it will take maby another whole full tank of fule to rid the smoke it's it sticks it will all work out even if it takes a couple of tanks . All the best Littletree:thumbup:

I love them but only to do one thing to them I just love cutting them down as hate the site of them but live picking up the money when I have had them out The other week I cut down masses in a a garden it was amazing 2 days later it was a different place the sun had never seen the house . After I had finished I was having tea and cake in there living room and the sun shone in and they were just so delighted . That's the good part of the leylandi jobs Littletree:thumbup:

  12. When I first started using a silky I did get a few nicks a couple quite nasty but since I moved over to the large long version the sugoi I have not had one cut since . It may be the design and shape that do something but the sugoi is cracking saw and with no cuts off it I will never go back to the plain silky . Littletree

    Wages

Hi there not sure about Scotland but south west england for climbers on the books it can range from 75 to 100 per day using company kit , and as a subby climber with all your own kit then it's anywhere from 100 to 150 per day tops Hope this helps Littletree:thumbup:
  14. MS260 love it followed by my money maker my 200T Happy saws Littletree:thumbup:
  15. You are dead right about personal hygiene , I worked with one chap he always wore a black jumper summer and winter he looked neat but my god he stunk in a big way this was the same everyday , after he left it took ages for the truck to return to it's normal wood chip smell !! I would say poor personal hygiene is worse then a fist full of tatts. Littletree
  16. Making your poor lad cover all up when the weather is hot and he is in chainsaw trousers too is asking to give your lad heat stroke !! And make his job really uncomfortable !! A T shirt is ample For the work he is doing I have tattoos . I where a tee shirt it does not cover them all but it's plenty enough . I am the one that does all the quotes so sees the customers first I have never once had any problems strange looks or bad feedback . I would not where a vest tops as it's smarter in t shirts and gives some coverage too . Littletree:thumbup:
  17. Hi there it's always a hard one but it's best to work for a company a couple of years as a groundy/ second climber you will need your 38/39 to get you cutting and climbing but it's only time on the tools that will help you become a good cutter . When you first get your tickets don't be tempted to sub out as a climber as you may come unstuck as when you first start climbing / cutting its a massive learning curve and you will need to be looked after for a while by the other climbers you will work with . If you can get a job as a learner climber then that's the best way forward as you will not be expected to be able be able to cut above your ability . I wish you all the best , climbing is a wonderful job but it will take a real determination and lots of hard work to get good All the best Littletree:thumbup:

  20. Hi it was so windy we got a working day off as the ferry could not run .
  21. I clean the air filter after each use then when have time I then service the bar and then have off both covers and clean it all out . Just ordered up my new drive sprocket and file filter . And sharpen chain as needed If you look after your kit it will last much longer and it's less lightly to brake on the job . Littletree:thumbup:
  22. Yes this happened to me I filled up at an independent garage then realised my wallet was at home . They would not take my address and told me I had to pay I told them I could not as wallet at home ,they said they would call the police if I did not cough up by this time the 2 of them were getting cross . They said they would call the police if I drove off to report theft. So in the end I rang the local police as did not want them coming for me with blues and 2s and explained my situation and that I would rather they came to the filling station then me leaving and them arresting me as I still having not left the forecourt had not committed a crime . They came and were really nice and took all my details and persuaded the owners to let me drive home and get it it took the police some time as the owners wanted them to arrest me to insure they got there money I went home and got payment and all was well but thats my exp of filling up with no wallet . Littletree:thumbup:
