  1. Hi there yes the money is much better then average rail work for a level 1 your pay will be between 130 to 150 per day but you will need to find digs when you get there or most of us just van or car live , If it was a a couple of years ago when y applied I would say try again as this glut of tree/ devegging work has only in the last year taken off in the last year or so ring round again , When I first did my IRATA over 3 years ago I also for the first year of having it could not get work with it but but then did and have been flat out since The drawbacks are its backbreaking work 11 and 12 h days every day working 11 days straight with only one rest brake in a 11 or 12 h shift .It's a different set up to normal tree tree surgery company's , you will work uk wide you can be placed anywhere . For me it's been 2 years flat out with it and I am now trying to get out of this side of it All the best Littletree
  2. Hi there I know this post is old but it seems at this moment in time there is just masses and masses of devegging being taken on by the geo rope access company's , I know for us it seems our company is taking on huge railway devegging long term contracts . All under the IRATA banner . So for anyone with there IRATA tickets there is no shortage in work at all levels The company's mentioned in the above post all have a glut of this work at the moment Littletree

  4. Hi there at this time and with his exp he will earn much more with a 360 ticket. I have my 360 ticket 10 tone and above and also all my climbing tickets and IRATA rope access PTS and dumpers wheeled / tracked so I am Always flat out with work non stop as have several strings to my bow that contractors all want and work up and down the country for weeks at a time . For him if he is a new climber with tickets he will only pick up about 60 a day working on the books , even for good climbers the average is around 80 to 90 a day on the books doing rail work and then he will have to really scratch around for the work in the beginning until he gets known and good at it . If he is making a choice between gaining his climbing tickets or going for a 360 digger ticket then I would say to him go for his 360 hands down as even with his red card he will have work by the very next day on a min of between 11/12 an hour , and for blue cards is up to about 12 to 14 ph the is masses and masses of work for 360 and telehandler drivers as long as he is prepared to travel he will never be out of work again as long as he is a carefull and good operator Littletree
  5. Hi all I am looking for a second person to join me on my 360 10 ton and above and forward tipping wheeled dumper course . It's a 10 day course , you get your own 360 and dumper for the 10 days it includes all the training and CPCS tests on both machines . I am doing the course worth a training g provider in Chepstow . I am an individual so looking for a second person to do the course with me , as he cannot run it with just one or it will cost me double if I were to do it on a one 2 one . The cost of the course is 2 grand a person all in . If anyone is thinking of doing these 2 tickets Or know someone that is thinking of doing it Please pm me . Thanks Littletree

  7. Hi I think it looks nice and neat , you did a good job . I know it's really hard when a customer does not like what you have done , it can be a real blow when you have worked really hard on a job and given it your best and did what they asked for . Luckily it happens only very rarely so take hart and by the time you have finished your next job and have a happy customer smiling from ear to ear ,the memory of this one will soon fade into the distance . All the best littletree:thumbup:

  10. Hi there I really feel for you . My advice would be of you can get some tools a strimmer and what else you can get together some cards made up and go meet the people . If you have the drive the work will come in . Every person you meet in a day will most lightly have trees and a garden it's amazing how much opportunity there really is if you are prepaired to dig for it . You need to be like a dog with a bone . You can get free advertising at most of the places you either shop or eat at just by chatting to the owner I find it really easy to get my cards in Down your local is a good one . If you have some old stuff to get rid of do a car boot sale have your cards at the ready it's a great way to get rid of old stuff For some cash and get free advertising through just chatting and giving out your cards . If y can travel and are happy to kip in you car or van then there is lots of sunny work on hear to be had up and down the country Have a think about what other skills you have ? Do you have any other tickets ie cherry picker , PTS , 360 . IRATA . Can y drive 7.5 tone trucks . If you have several things you can turn your hand to it will give you more work opptunitys . I think the full time job thing is not going to happe that fast , being self employed in charge of your own desterny is the way forward . I really wish u all the best Littletree
  11. I love Oregon files but hate the stihl ones the stihl files seem to have nothing on them to grind with but the Oregon ones are great I have not tried the other makes. Littletree:001_smile:
  12. When I first got mine I soon really wished I had not got it it was and completely gutless I now have had tweaked and it's defiantly much better but never as good as my 200t . if I had a choice between a 200t and a 201 the 200 would be the one for me overall I like the 200 better . Littletree:001_smile:
  13. After reading all the posts I have a feeling ,it's highley lightly they are paying him as a second climber or grondys wage to save money and they are hoping that he will just get on with it . I've seen it both ways happen in the past well good climbers on really poor wages . I have also seen new climbers coming on with a company and giving it all the talk and then they get pushed up the biggist tree going and then land in trouble . I know for myself you have to be very very clear from the start with the boss about exactly what y can and cannot do . If you have been completely straight with your new boss from the beginning then you need to take him aside in the morning before you leave the yard and have it out and get it sorted . I wish you all the best Littletree:001_smile:

  16. Hi all , I need a bit of advice on tree roots . It's a fir tree The Fir tree in question is about 6 feet from the house and is about 25 feet high The roots are pushing up a paving stone . I know fir tree roots are quite shallow . Will the tree roots affect the foundations of the house . ? If the tree was to be reduced will that stop the root system spreading any further ? Thanks Littletree
