  1. I usually use a silky for all the thin branches but yes I do at times use the saw one handed . It's down to the individual climber to decide what he feels is the best course of action for the job in question . Littletree:thumbup:
  2. O leylandii that horrid stuff will it's only horried when I am asked to reduce it I love the stuff when I am asked to remove it I really can have my revenge with the stuff . I usually always climb through it and walk through them on the top but I all ways take a very good look at them before doing it . If I think the result is not going to be good then I decline the job If it's just. Trim then long reach hedge trimmer and ladders . All the best with it Littletree:thumbup:
  3. Hi there not that I know anything about tax matters other then being self employed myself. If it were my son and he was under 16 then if he was just doing a weekend and holiday job for me then I would just pay him cash and leve it at that. When he has left school 16+ then if you wanted to give him a regular full time job then you would need to do it through PAYE as if he works for you full time then he is entitled to holiday pay and there is a minimum Wage for 16/17 year olds of £3.68 ph unless they are on the apprenticeship Scheam then it's 2.60 ph in the first year .it may be worth you looking into that . Hope this helps Littletree:thumbup:

  11. Who else has got one of these shiny new toys ? I have been salivating over one of these for ages . Yesterday I took the plunge and went for it god i love it it's everything I expected. I can arbtalk anytime now I went for the 02 sim no lock in contract for my Internet for 10.21 a month You have to get the free sim to fit the iPad from there shop or you can order it online . Overall looking at the two different ways of buying one of these . I would not suggest going for a contract it works out at 200 quid more over the 24 month contract. I did look at a range of contracts and they all were a rip off I went for non contract option and the PAYGO sim from 02 Littletree:thumbup:
  12. 15. Hi there new fella keep your chin up it will all all work out in the end .keep at it and dont give up you wil get your first brake and from that other work will come in from that . if you have your own saw then the best way to get started is to do little jobs for your friends and family and anyone that needs cutting doing . I started this way . tell everyone you meet that you have a saw and see if they need stuff doing in there garden all of your contacts/friends will have a garden with stuff in its just a matter of talking to them . Volentreering a day a week got me loads of pratice with my saw in my first few months this was priceless it helped so much . then I got my first brake with employment . 3 years on and I have tree work comming out of my ears . if you have a passion and are deterined and willing to work hard it will sell you and soon you will be a very busy person . Every day I have a passion for what I do i get great pleasure from making a tree/garden look amazing for my customers this sells me as everyone I do a job for I give it 200 % and the customers face is allways smiling at the end of the day , this one customer then brings me many more and so it goes on each garden and tree/ hedge I do is an advert of my work to there contacts It will happen keep going all the best Littletree:thumbup:
  16. For me I really love my work everyday . For me i don't class it as work it's just shere enjoyment . The best bits for me is sectional felling on the slimmer trees I really enjoy using my 20 and silky I love the really tall slim trees and the chogging down . I really love 99% of my job the other best bit is seeing the customers face really happy with what I have done for them . I have a real passon for my work and really enjoy making there tree / garden look lovley as I can see the fruits of my effort in front of me . For me it's the best thing I ever did was to get into arb I should of done it years ago . Littletree:thumbup:
  17. HiThere and welcome to the forum you have come to the right place . Your cs30/31 will get you started and will helpbto get your foot in the door . Keep your eyes open on here as there is allways other arbtalkers that are wanting groundies for a day or so . If you can do as many little jobs for friends and family with you saw it will help build up your saw handling and cutting skills and will help you earn a bit of cash . If you are determined it will pay off for you And you will get your foot in the door . I did. Volentering for a while and it really helped me in a big way . It was the best move I ever made going into arb and I have never looked back good luck and keep at it All the best littletree

Pair of seal skin sox they work a treat never wet feet again even if the boots are soaking they cost £25 quid a pair but will last for years well worth the investment . All the best littletree
  19. Hi there for one company I do contract work for we have random D&a tests and it's sack on the spot if anyone fails . I have worked with many and sometime some have been smashed at work but on the harder stuff . I don't think a bit of weed does to much harm the problems start when they come to work still drunk or high or on a come down from the night before . Littletree
  20. I am afaid I would of gone over and caused a seen as sadly if the person is hitting the dog openly then Its lightly the poor dog is getting regular beatings at home . For some people it's a way of life and it dies not allways stop at the dog at home . Littletree

  22. Hi the furthist I have travled to work is from Somerset to sky bridge but I did stay for 8 weeks . My van turns into my home . Even if work is close to home if it's an hour away I allways stay at the job unless it's a one dayer it saves masses on fule . I have a small genny or I can get hook up with my 50m cable . I find staying over takes out alot of stress and saves loads of your hard earned cash but it would be different if you had a family to return to each night . Littletree:thumbup:
