  1. It was a tough decision: doing the catwalks for Prada or surveying trees in the pishing rain? A girl doesn't always have enough time in her life for two careers, so the all glamour, high octane world of Local Authority freelancing won.
  2. I get Hort Week online for free, thus saving my pennies for big, shiny beeeeuuuutiful books for the coffee table I also get The Dendrologist quarterly, which is more of a pamphlet, and the RHS's The Garden, which is great if you have an all round general interest in hort'. Aftertought: Ask at you library to get any journals in for you, so you can try before you buy ;-)
  3. If I absolutely had to give up arboriculture, then I guess I would be forced to to go back to being an international supermodel to pay the bills
  4. I don't even want to think about how many portions of pumpkin soup you'd be left with after wittling one of them monsters...
  5. I thought it was Eminem in the background when I was rushing around trying to get ready for work . I must be really uncool as I've never heard of him, but as you say, the lyrics are actually pretty good.
  6. Cheeky, this is Rob's game Do you give up yet? Well done on the Wolumi
  7. A couple of fairly easy ones and then a challenge
  8. I can only echo what everyone else has said... WOW! That is a beautiful piece of carving
  9. x 2. Although the key takes a little getting used to as the trees are arranged by leaf shape.
  10. You will never have just the one. They're addictive Do you want a field guide or a multi volume coffee table book? Photographic or just text? History and uses or solely botany? Only the more frequently encountered species or all species? And the biggee - how much do you want to spend?
  11. That's very good . If only I could have that and the pyrotechnics and not the mini chav extortionists doing their trick or treating this year.
  12. Not bad, my dear (said in my most elderly tones while looking over my half moon glasses LoL).
  13. My turn Species not cv's for you this time.
  14. Phaeolus? (I'm preparing for the laughter at my amateur guesses already... . LoL)
  15. Ditto on that. I was working in the moring so missed the live GP and I'm only just catching up on the news now. A sad day for motor sport and a horrendous day for Sic's family and friends (and the other riders). My thoughts are with them all.
  16. If you are supplying the survey for your friend and not directly for the Hotel, then see if his (or hers) insurance covers you. I don't do enough private surveys to warrant my own insurance so I always make sure I'm covered by whoever I'm working for.
  17. Ditto on that . It's a good salary for the level and it's a nice part of the country; it's going to make someone very happy. Thanks for posting
  18. I thought you might want to upgrade, David?
  19. I find simply being blonde covers every brain dead eventuality and is my all encompassing excuse. For everything. You should try it.
  20. Oh you uncultured philistine, you. LoL . It's an interpretation of one of Vincent Van G's, innit? Senior moment? It looks like you caught it when it was a lot fresher and more vibrant. What a great way to hide the scaffolding.
  21. Uni, and fambly, and work, and life... Excuses, excuses for getting in the way of creating MY data base. LoL. Have you got Mabbs' little corkers listed yet?
  22. Nope, I can't say I did instantly. This may help . I've been peripherally involved with green wall and roof installations and I thought this one outside of The National Gallery was really good, more from the point that it raises public awareness of the possibilities that you can achieve with a bit of imagination
  23. Do you recognise this interpretation of an old master?
  24. Have you been hanging out in Kew Gardens today or sumfin? I haven't (knowingly ) seen any of the trees that you have posted. Love the apical buds on that Quercus - they're remiscent of so many genera other than Quercus!!!
