That sounds like the kind of offer my mum always warned me about I did cross my mind to just try and sneak in, but as they know me (and i'm a thoroughly decent chapette) i don't think i'd get away with it. Ho hum, i should've got in there with my ticket reservation sooner -
That is so frustrating. Makes me wonder if the bods doing the planting had the same feeling or did they not even think about the future?

Any one else see Grand Designs last nite? For thoes unfortunate enough not to have seen it, they were doing a rebuild of a fire gutted old thatched cottage. They had to completely redo the roof, which meant new oak beams throughout. Exposed new beams in the walls as well. It was wonderful to see the craftsmanship involved and the end result was beautiful. It was good to see British products and labour used to combine practicality and aesthetics so well.

Only time an Ailanthus looks good is when it's turned into a huge pile of chip!!! Copper beeches, on t'other hand, look fantastic when they first come into leaf, especially if they have a green backdrop. Good choice.

What form does it take? If it involves cleaning, please feel free to get busy in my garage. No point letting a mental disorder go to waste. (Think I have joined the ranks of the naughty kids for mis posting in this forum )

Again, it depends what you want to do with your new found knowledge. The good thing about the Tec Cert is that you can work full while doing this quite easily, and industry experience is invaluable for getting through both parts of the exam. I know the Foundation is a qualification in it's own right, but it is geared towards getting the full BSc. Down side: huge chunk of your life taken over, even doing it part time. Plus side: knowledge and qualification is much more transferable. I don't really think the two qualifications are comparable. If you think that you'll want to carry on studying after doing the Tec Cert, then in my wordly opinion I reckon you should by pass it. If you're not too sure about you're future career path, then do the Tech Cert as it's still a very good ticket to have.

Thank ya. It's been far too many years since I've been in any sort of formal education and I don't think that larking around at Capel for a few days a week in the distant past has prepared me very well for real, hardcore learning. Think I'm gonna need all the support I can get

After much time and effort spent procrastinating, I've finally applied to Myerscough to do their online foundation degree - arb' . The important word here being "applied", as I haven't been offered or accepted a place for this September... Though it's hard to see how they could possibly refuse me Ayway, testing the waters to see if anyone else in the London area is doing the same course and wants to arrange some sort of joint study? I know having someone else there to occasionally nag / persuade / guilttrip me does wonders for keeping me focussed when my enthuism starts to wain. And I'm not too bad at reciprocating.

Hmm, how about two fairly unusual contenders for the attractive bark catagory: Stuartia pseudocamelia and Pinus bungeana? Davidia involucrata is a fave for summer flowers, though it's more late summer. Little shrubby thing with good early spring flowers is Corylopsis (various cv's) which also smells great and has good autumn colour as a bonus. And there's always the back section of Hillier's (my fave!) Good luck with the assignment.

Not exactly local to you, but you could try Training Courses from Civil Engineering to Health and Safety - Skills Training Centre Tis where I done mine. I think if you can spell your name without too much trouble you should get through no problem
