  1. depends how windy your office is realy doesnt it , or how much you wanna keep your door open lol , but i would agree it would make a decent ash try
  2. paper weight , door stop , super heavy weight for your throw line ( may be better than the treepedo ) or a small plant pot ha ha ha ha
  3. sorry bob are we keeping you up ?? i know your getting old but half nine is a bit early to be needing to stick your teath in a glass of watter ond get some un deserved sleep ha ha ha jokes
  4. i do see your point, its a verry open question in which to ask for a quite specific answer i guess but hey steve is off to watch ice age 3 at the weekend
  5. what gets me about the profesional stihl saws is the fact that the carb is adjusted to its standard settings and the an anti tamper cover is put around each of the jets , my ms361 had them meaning i could not adjust the carb once the saw had beded in which resulted in a trio to my local stihl dealers where they simply took them off for me and tuned my saw . bet you dont get any of that on a jonsered
  6. my point is that a grounds man is a tree worker just like a climber , so the point of the initial thread is does being a good tree climber make him a good tree worker , there is more to being a tree worker than climbing and the skills ascociated with climbing !
  7. a grounds man is a tree worke as well aint he ???
  8. if it helps flip flops are not much cop for foot locking but my red chilli rock climbing shoes are , but then that does not help me at work !!!
  9. so what is the difference in price betwene saws ?? i used an ms260 a few weeks ago and was really not impressed however we use husky 357xp's , i know the husky in a more powerfull saw but still felt that the still was lacking in power and seemed not to be as ergonomic . but the only husky saws i will buy are the 357xp's we dont use any other husky saw its all stihl , maybe i will look at a jonsered as well next time im looking for a saw
  10. what have you bought on ebay then mate ?
  11. im really sorry guys im still trying to get the pictures from the groundy that prommised me he would bring them in on tues (and im still waiting ) i was chatting to another tree surgeon yesterday that worked on it in the early 90's and he was saying that it had the biggest crown spread on a monterey pine in england and norther europe but i have not yet found anything to prove or dis prove his statement . i will have the pictures up by the end of the week guys , once again sorry . Dave
  12. i have used both i would say the 150 will fill your chip box in less time as the feed rolers are a little faster and the mas of a 6 inch piece of timber is greater than that of a 4 inch piece of timber . personally i would have the 125 for domestic as its light , easy to move round by hand and you dont always need a bigger chipper but for the commercial side of things i will stick with my tw190 (sadly its not a turbo but on the bright side it does not drink fuel like a turbo . but that is only my personal oppinion
  13. i must admit i did have a look at the M.E.W.P.S at the show !
  14. milner off road do some heavy duty leaf springs for mada/ford if not try jap parts they also do them
  15. ha ha ha ha thats just what is needed in this weather , one side with a an of cider and the other with a can of larger !!!!
  16. if i am climbing as a subbie i will still try to help chip or drag i dont fell that just because i have done the climbing i dont need to help with ground work even though im not expected to help clear up , but thats only the way i work .
  17. well done ross , glad you have found a job , hope all goes well chap .
  18. does the climber muck in with everyone elts once he has finnished climbing ???
  19. nice tidy job mate , im now considdering doing the same to my b2500 but not sure as i have the extra cab . i used to load mine up with chip as i made a chip box for it but soon snapped both rear sets of leaf springs
  20. so shrek when will you be getting your own choppa then lol ???
  21. get a conversion for your helmet that will carry 2 beer cans , when they are empty throw them away and get 2 more ice cold beers lol jokes
  22. what can a say bob it was too big for me i thought it was more your kind of job , specially with a toy fire engine !!
  23. i have seen guys that can climb quickly and work to a high standard , i have also seen guys climb slowly and make a right mess of a tree , i think a climber needs to work at his/ her pace without rushing but most of all the climber needs to work as part of a team with the ground staff . but this is only my oppinion what gets me are the feally fast climbers that fush everything , make a mess and leave the tree in worse condition than when they started but they still feel that they are tha mutts nuts ,
  24. i have said to the chaps that work with me to take a break when they need it and i try to take extra water with me to make sure no one goes thirsty every day last week and today i got my other half to bring out some ice creams for everyone half ay through the afternoon , its only fair to reward them for working hard in such hot weather .
