  5. a tree is only un climbable to the climber that cant or wont do it , alot of climbers dont wanna push them selves out of there comfort zone , IMO if you are not willing to push your self out of your comfort zone you will never thos un climbable trees or awkward ones

  9. but in reality its he who charges the least , does what ever the client asks even at all cots to the tree winns , it really pi sses me right off , how can a bloke with a nisan cabstar just about got his basic climbing and some ropey saws oh and no chipper be allowed to compete on works for housing associations etc , just goes to show its not what you know or how well you do the job it more a case of csn you do it for 50% less than the reall arborists if so you have got it . sorry , my own post has got me up on the soap box again lol
  10. the tree we are taking down is 120 feet tall and has a crown spread of roughly 120 feet
  11. how can it go un noticed with a lovely great mog ,
  12. i still have a 242xp its great had it since 1999 and still going strong
  13. see im a firm believer in quality, the money will come naturally , bit like the job i am currently doing , i was reccomended over severall larger companies because of the standard of our work and the fact that the boss is out on site working and makes sure the work is done on time and to standard . thats where becoming a bigger compamy becomes harder , either you have guys you can trust and it works or guys that you cant trust and you lose your reputation .
  14. we dont get many down here but the yha youth hostle that we are doing the work for have planted 2 coast red woods and 2 giant red woods , i was looking at one of the coast red woods that was planted 10 years ago (grown from seed) and its already nearly 25 foot tall , what are the monterey pines like over there , im told they dont grow to the same sies as they do over here
  15. i will second that mark , i cant see the point of having an approved contractors scheme when the generall public are not aware of it . is this something that the AA could improve on ??
  16. to be honest the cost would not bother me to much as long as it was in my oppinion acceptable , i would rather pay a bit more and know the kit has been inspected without a rush . ross turner is good and fair and well worth using IMO
  17. strongbow with a double gin oh and slice of lemmon , or good old you know where you stand guiness
  18. a had just the same problem 6 years ago and ended up with a dislocated shoulder , stick one of them up a tree and see how they like it , this is now why the chaps that work for me/ with me all have experiance climbing . im sure its the battered mars bars fish suppers and irn bru

  23. well chaps after a day of cutting we have got 1/3 of the tree on the ground , its been bloody hot down here and climbing all day with the husky 288 left me feeling pretty shattered lol , with a bit of luck tomorrow should see it all on the deck , well appart from the 30 foot stick the client wants left (good Knows) , after severall months of not doing any work like this its suprising how long it takes to settle into it again lol
  24. i never get to any farm sales sadly as im always working . but will keep my eyes open
  25. this may sound a bit like some of the other posts but i am reall interested to hear oppinions from both aa approved contractors and contractors that are not , what do you all think to the scheme is it worth it and do you really reap the rewards ???
