  1. i still have a 242xp its great had it since 1999 and still going strong
  2. see im a firm believer in quality, the money will come naturally , bit like the job i am currently doing , i was reccomended over severall larger companies because of the standard of our work and the fact that the boss is out on site working and makes sure the work is done on time and to standard . thats where becoming a bigger compamy becomes harder , either you have guys you can trust and it works or guys that you cant trust and you lose your reputation .
  3. we dont get many down here but the yha youth hostle that we are doing the work for have planted 2 coast red woods and 2 giant red woods , i was looking at one of the coast red woods that was planted 10 years ago (grown from seed) and its already nearly 25 foot tall , what are the monterey pines like over there , im told they dont grow to the same sies as they do over here
  4. i will second that mark , i cant see the point of having an approved contractors scheme when the generall public are not aware of it . is this something that the AA could improve on ??
  5. to be honest the cost would not bother me to much as long as it was in my oppinion acceptable , i would rather pay a bit more and know the kit has been inspected without a rush . ross turner is good and fair and well worth using IMO
  6. strongbow with a double gin oh and slice of lemmon , or good old you know where you stand guiness
  7. a had just the same problem 6 years ago and ended up with a dislocated shoulder , stick one of them up a tree and see how they like it , this is now why the chaps that work for me/ with me all have experiance climbing . im sure its the battered mars bars fish suppers and irn bru
  8. im in penance mate , so are you from the area then ??? im still looking for decent climbers\ someone keen and willing to learn/ improve , pm me if your interested mate
  9. well its on a yha yuh hostel and there are people also camping there so they will only let us work till 5 ish but then again its been so bloody hot that all 3 of us were fooked lol
  10. ha i have got most of tomorrow climbing with am ms880 tomorrow with the 36 inch bar and later with the 4 foot bar lol , im sure it would be fine for a bid of kindlin ha ha jokes , get a 460 all the way
  11. will be posting them as soon as the whole job is done , its been quite hard to get lots of pics as we are on a tight deadline , the tree has to be cleared by friday as the youth hostel has a school camping there from sat , oh and im at the arb show
  12. well chaps after a day of cutting we have got 1/3 of the tree on the ground , its been bloody hot down here and climbing all day with the husky 288 left me feeling pretty shattered lol , with a bit of luck tomorrow should see it all on the deck , well appart from the 30 foot stick the client wants left (good Knows) , after severall months of not doing any work like this its suprising how long it takes to settle into it again lol
  13. i never get to any farm sales sadly as im always working . but will keep my eyes open
  14. this may sound a bit like some of the other posts but i am reall interested to hear oppinions from both aa approved contractors and contractors that are not , what do you all think to the scheme is it worth it and do you really reap the rewards ???
  15. hiya i used to work in newton abbot , have you given devon trees a call ??
  16. i guess cornwall is a bit far for you mate , so how long have you been climbing?
  17. ms 361 or an ms 441 both verry verry good saws , at that sie i would not even suggest looking at a husky , we only use husky 357's . if your feeling like spending money get an ms880 with a 24 inch bar , now that really does cut timber lol but a bit on the heavy side
  18. now i really want a mog more than anything , hmmm but 90 k is not within my price range at the mo , but 9 is ha ha ha not a chance !
  19. thieving pikey bastards , i doubt down here in cornwall i will hear or see anything but will keep my ears and eyes out , it seems a bit conveniant that they knew exactly when honeys would have a large amount of stock inn , just before the main arb show for the year !!!! hope they cathch the thieving bastards . i say cut there hands off with a blunt silky
  20. thanks drew , i was giving it a go last night getting it set up on a 6ft low limb , i can get it set up with no probs but cant seem to figure the retreval bit out yet , but thanks for the info you have sent and would be really greatfull if you did manage to take a couple pictures fr me mate ,
