  1. they are ok i guess but depends on the type of tree work your doing , i do alot of LA work and the bigger end of domestic works so i have a slightly larger timberwolf but for smaller private work , line clearence work etc they are not too bad
  2. i have the tw 190 non turbo and yes it is well worth doing , i was quoted £14500 at the aa show yesterday from lister wilder , may be worth giving them a call but yeah now i have had a 190 i would never ever use a smaller chiper
  3. yeah lets have some pics of un climbable trees , that should get this topic fired up again ha ha
  4. forget tha ambulance i would much rather a pint ha ha ha .
  5. if its new is it an ms660 ??? only asking because i have heard of alot of fakes being sold at the moment and they are labeled as a stihl 66 0r ms66
  6. not alot mate , i would not pay any more than £1100
  7. i would wait and get a newer chipper where parts are more common , if you hang on a few weeks tere may be a load of jensen chippers being sold by fountains as i was told by mike at the green mech stand today thatfountains have just placed an order with them for arround 28 new chipers. may be worth a try , failing that keep looking on earborist , there is normally a bargaint to be had on there
  8. i thought it was a bit smaller than last year , i went with the intention of buying the new skylotec that was meant to be out but there was only one harness tht could not be sold to me because of thelack of a ce and it is the only one in the country, gutted !!!
  9. who did the QTRA for that pine ha ha glad i didnt park under it
  10. i bought a stein hat with peltor ear defenders and was not impressed with the 4 self tapping screws to screw the ear defenders on with tbh , and to make it eeven worse i bought a pair of strech air trousers and the stitching looks really dodgy . any way it was great to meet some of you today , role on the next get together
  11. yeah i saw it and thought it was a cunning publicity stunt , should have got my scooby sign writen ha ha
  12. im glad to hear they are still in god spirits as im driving up from the far end of cornwall early tomorrow ! hope you have all left me some goodies to buy
  13. i think when people say outdated they really mean not what they prefer , i was told my method of climbing on a prussik was outdated but it has its place , i dont see the point in using my lock jack on a 30 foot tree tbh . neither can i be bothered to tie anything more that a prussik for a small job lol
  14. but as my LA found out when trying to use the hedgerow legislation the question brought up by the TREE/HEDGEROW owners legal representation was - when or how do you distinguish betwene a hedgerow ond a group of trees ? they felt that because the trees had been allowed to grow without being trimmed etc that they were there fore a stand of trees thus meaning that they were not included under the act and that they would not be made to cut them back or keep them as a hedge . the outcum was that the LA backed down !
  15. well my advice to you is to find an english language site if it gets to you that much lol , bit of O.C.D there i think !
  16. climbing from both ends of your rope does have its place but i prefer to climb with one main line with a 10 meter short rope oh and carry a strop as well , it makes qetting into the tree faster and quiet often having that short rope can really aid you when getting out on a long branch , one of my ex staff would only climb on one end of his rope and a 2 meter strop , the shame was that he was not working at a productive pace at all whic then led to him trying to take short cuts when cutting . its all about striking a ballence when climbing
  17. i could not agree more , i had the same problem with the way one of my groundsmen were lowering so i talked him through it calmly , that way he didnt get flusterd by me it took time but we built up confidence in each other and now work as a team ,
  18. could you pm me with betails of mog and price please mate ?
  19. if only i had known about you having that bit of kit on monday , so are you selling one of your mog's then
  20. what does that mate ???

  22. personally i think he should forget the saws and buy a mog , oh and come an work with me in cornwall ,
  23. oh righ cool i had only ever heard of bartlets doing it glad there is a local company doing it
  24. i would agree guys , you should not ned to provide your own saw at college and if you are expected to do so then i would find a better college to go to that can provide the equipment, whos to say that you find you dont like tree surgery and that your now left with a load of expensiv kit thats of no use to you , take your time mate
