  1. The cut on your hand or the sex scene???
  2. Stevie - how on earth did you manage to cut your hand like that?? Looks Nasty. Regarding the new blockbuster arb film, I bagsy the steamy sex scene with the gorgeous lady tree officer!
  3. I use these gloves, they cost £6.99 a pair in the local hardware shop.. http://www.townandco.com/Product_detail.asp?ARTNO=TGL112-420 Absolutley fantastic - I buy the ladies version, size 7-8 and they fit like a second skin, great for work. Only problem is they do wear out after about 5 or 6 weeks. Regarding bigger climbing line, I think I will have a look at the True Blue, failing that i'm going to get a bull rope of about 18mm but only in a short length, something like 20m.
  4. Been blowing strong most of the day here...
  5. May be able to help you here... Try the Association of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers, thee's a page on the website where you can make a timber requirement enquiry. You would probably have to pay for transport etc down to you, but these guys are very good. http://www.ashs.co.uk
  6. ''a stable guide bar that stays straight for a long time makes things significantly easier'' You dont say... well I never... That is a seriousley patronising video, and it looks like a load of rubbish to me. If you want to use bio oil, start buying your chain oil from asda or tescos, normal basic veg oil... it's the core ingredient in all bio oils anyway so why would you pay a fortune just because it says Stihl or Oregon on the drum? I dont care what anyone says about the bio oils, they are a f****ng rip off!!
  7. Ahh the Lawsons Cypress, hairy, stinking and a pain in the arse.... A bit like the Prime Minister.
  8. Alasdair, get yourself on a course with Treevolution - I think they are based in wales for the training... they do a specialist rigging course and it;s supposed to be the dogs danglies. I'm hoping to go on a treevolution rigging course in the near future myself.
  9. That's an impressive Tree!! Nice one!
  10. Good job Dean - you'll be back in a couple of years to do it again!
  11. I would give a flat price per tree rather than a day rate. If you get two or three trees done in a day that's better than just one.. If it's 80 trees then I would work on the assumption that you'll be doing two a day, therefore I would be charging something like £150 a tree and then looking to do as many as possible in a day. However, having not sen the trees you might be up to 4 a day as it is or even down to one per day if they are big and need alot of work.
  12. Or you could just pay someone young, fit and slender to tree ratt it for you!! :001_tongue:
  13. No, but I would very much like to...especially if there is an actual claymore mine underneath the cat...
  14. I use a secondary anchor... my positioning strop is made from climbing line anyway so it's no hassle to leave the main anchor point and create a temporary new anchor point closer to the work area, if that is not possible I keep tension on my main anchor and use my flip line as a secondary anchor. If the job is going to require climbing mostly above the anchor point, I would prefer to put in a higher anchor as high up the tree as possible and work my way down each side as necessary.. It's easy enough to use a redirect if required.
  15. Sorry to hear that guys... there are some real tos**rs about these days.. As a thought, we should all get Ebay to make a new rule that second hand PPE can not be sold on the site, that would probably make it worthless to steal climbing kit etc and maybe bring down the number of thefts. I imagine ebay is where the climbing gear will end up, and as for the mower, probably been sold on already. Did you have it marked/engraved???
  16. That is seriousley interesting... So this is what you do when you're quiet ey..... Quantum alchemy.. never heard of it before, but i'm interested.. Cant find any info on Madelham theory online at all.... spooky.
  17. What is this madelham theory you speak of?? Searched for it in google and it returned no results at all?!
  18. Those guys take thier stalking pretty seriousley eh? I now feel like I have life too easy with a .270!
  19. Yep, I usually use HBS Ring in Inverness - they are very good as it happens, and have never had a problem with them.. I think it's the same guys in Elgin. They use the Scottish School of Forestry for Assessments etc. There is another on in Aberdeen, Mearns & Angus Services, but I have found them to be pretty expensive in comparison.
  20. Yep, only problem is I cant have him cutting on-site until he has a ticket, not even as a trainee. Could take him on provate jobs though.
  21. I'm hoping Arbocop will be able to help me out here. Have looked it up, it's deffinatley 16. Planning to get him through his tickets and then straight into a first thinning for a good couple of months or so to learn properly!!
  22. Possibility of a three week contract available for a three man or four man PTS Qualified Squad, would ideally have COSS, LKT, CS Units, Chipper etc. Required for de-veg works, north scotland. Must be a full squad, experienced and competent. Contract not finalised yet although an immediate start would be anticipated. Please PM me or e-mail [email protected] with details of qualifications (COSS, PTS, MEDICAL ETC), previous experience and availability as well as full contact details.
